Ms. Tsukada has been an incredible host and made us feel very comfortable before we even arrived by giving us information about the way to go to the Ryokan. Once we arrived, we were provided with the best service we ever had as well as a lot of attentions, and the food was out of this world. I cannot recommend enough to spend some time there.

Staff are amazing. Many people on the front desk in hotels are helpful – the staff here are genuinely nice as well. Made checking in and checking out a real pleasure.

The hotel is directly connected to the station and mall, which screams ACCESSIBILITY(!). Front office accommodated our request to have two double beds joined as single…thank you. We enjoyed being able to open the room window a slit and take-in cold, natural air.

Located in the centre of Shibu hot-spring area and a 5-minute drive from Yudanaka Train Station, Sakaeya offers Japanese-style accommodations.

Beautiful boutique-feeling ryokan with really wonderful staff. We celebrated two birthdays and I was able to coordinate the delicious cakes over email. They even helped us take a photo and printed it out so we all had a little souvenir <3 So thoughtful! The rooms and building were lovely, as was the outdoor onsen. We did the private onsen experience too which was a little extra, but worth it especially to spend time with a partner. Food was tasty and yukatas were very pretty. Felt like a little dream.

1/ easy to contact by messages. Very reactive. 2/ WE were transported by car from the station (200m walk) very convenient when you have many luggages. 3/ you feel special from the start to the finish. The personnel were very classy, helpful, polite. 4/ We had the suite with the private onsen. It was a surprise to discover also a private sauna and massage chair. The luxuary in that room is incredible. Worth every yen (and we are not the kind of people that spend much on hotels, it was a luxuary that we granted ourselves for a special occasion and it made it very special) 5/ the breakfast Is top class japanese cuisine 6/ i recommand getting thé dinner (full kaiseki course). Master class delights. We had a proper private dining room for ourselves (i think included with the suit). 7/ the private onsen... Excellent with a good view. 8/ yudanaka IS a very nice village

Even though their English isn't the best, the staff treated us very well. They welcomed us warmly and offered us an unexpected gift.

The staff/owners were very nice and spoke only Japanese. They offered an earlier check in although we arrived late into Yudanaka Station. The hotel is only a 17 minute walk slightly uphill, but you can choose to take a taxi. They have a couple of small pastries and green tea, with a hot water dispenser in the room. They have shampoo and body wash in the washing area within the onsen. The onsen is open 24 hours which was great for us because we were still jet lagged. They have a shop by reception that has some drinks and some items they use in the onsen like the pumice stone. They also allow you to store your luggage after checkout, and we did this while going to Jigokudani Onsen, which is just a 15 min bus ride and a 10 min walk away. The view from the onsen was beautiful particularly at sunrise although it faces northwest. I’m looking forward to be back.

Return to this same resort at Myoko after 2 years. What I like : 1. Near to several ski resorts 2. Provides transport to train station, to ski resorts, to dinner place 3. Onsen 4. Big Japanese room for 2 person (can fit 4) 5. Simple breakfast (new owners setting up). Kind of miss the Japanese type breakfast two year ago. 6. Can do dinner at resort 7. Nice drying and locker room for snow gears. 8. Quiet place for good night rest. 9. Discount lift tickets to Alpen Blick Ski resort that is few minutes away. New owners should run in the resort well this season and improve on the next season.
