Everything!! The room was stunning with its private onsen where we could customize the water temperature while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views. Incredible service and incredible overall experience. It's like staying in a fancy cabin in the snow. The lounge area with the giant fireplace is awesome, very nice food, very spacious rooms and first class facilities such as the onsens and indoor swimming pool. The decor could be interpreted as dated (as other reviews have stated) but we felt this simply adds to the warmth and cosiness of the establishment. The service here is seriously next level and it is fantastic value for money.

We loved our experience at this hotel. As first timers to Japan it was an awesome introduction. The staff where fabulous and helpful. We found communicating pretty easy, we loved the Japanese buffet style breakfasts and dinners, and the Japanese food in general, they where also happy to cater for the vegetarian in our group. We had two rooms, one western style and one Japanese style room which our 20 year daughter used, she had no trouble sleeping on the futon mats. If you are a family with young children the Japanese style rooms are great. Being so close to the Takamahara ski lift was such a bonus, it was literally across the road. They have great ski dry rooms for the end of the day. I also highly recommend using the luggage courier system to transport ski gear to the hotel, you just need to allow for 48 hours for your gear to reach its destination. We couriered 2 ski bags and a large bag directly to Narita airport at the end of our stay while we spent two days in Tokyo, it was cheap and super efficient. I highly recommend this hotel.
