RomaniaA place to slow down or even stop among the fruit trees! A simple, homely place with a beautiful garden, nice, clean and cool pool and simple, basic, comfortable rooms. The location is good for exploring kahkheti but we didn't do very much, aside from a lovely outing to Signagi and a winery organised by our hosts, and walking to the monastery at Gremi, pretty much apart from that we sat in the garden watching the world (very slowly) go by. We walked into the village for cold beers, there isn't much there but it has all the shops you need, a pharmacy, a bakery etc.
The breakfast and meals at the hotel are simple, home cooked and delicious. We felt pretty healthy and content eating fruit from the trees, delicious soups and of course amazing Georgian bread! The hosts are the kindest people, when we had to leave early in the morning on our last day (before breakfast) they packed us a takeaway box. The homemade wine is also very good (but dangerous!) and served cold. The internet works well in the kitchen but not in the rooms, we had work to do but were happily able to do it in the kitchen.
I would recommend this if you want a place with basic comforts and simple pleasures. I hope to return one day!
