Very well run place, generous to a fault. We had asked for twin beds but they didn’t have any room with twin beds so they gave us a complimentary second room. Even though the suite I had booked was very big and could have easily accommodated a second bed. On our second night, we went to the restaurant. We were told they hadn’t opened yet as they had been doing some renovations but they kindly offered to cook a meal especially for us. Not only was it greatly appreciated as after hiking all the way the Cruzinha, I could not have walked any further, but the meal was excellent.

For us, Casa Familiar was the best accomodation in the Cape Verde. Margaret was super willing, helpfull and caring 🙏🏽 she made for us tastefull dinner and breakfast and offered us homemade grogue. We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon, straight from our hike which started at the Cova crater - Vale do Paul. The location was very convenient for our travel plan. There is a grocery store right next to the hotel, and a restaurant opposite to it. The hotel is very well maintained, there is a nice pool in the garden and breakfast is also served there (it was a very good one!). The room was clean, air-conditioned, with comfy beds. We spent 2 nights there and could not enjoy the second breakfast but the host was very kind and gave us some bananas for our next hike (Cruzihna - Ponta do Sol). He also arranged a taxi for us upon departure, overall he was very attentive and welcoming.
