The host was very helpful and courteous. The hotel’s service and facilities (eg., breakfast, onsen, common area, yukata, amenities) were well designed with attention to details. Selection of breakfast pastries was good, and they were delicious. Nice onsen facilities were available for private use. Rooms were basic, but very comfortable. If the weather is nice, the hotel is within walking distance to many sites.

Hiro-san is a fantastic host. Super welcoming, speaks great English (which helped us a lot, since my Japanese is...barely functional), has a great sense of humor and is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable - so ask him for recommendations on anything! The place has everything you need, and more - even a mini-onsen that Hiro-san will prepare if you ask for it! If you end up sharing the place with another group your experience could vary, but for us (5 people) everything worked out perfectly. Thank you again to Hiro-san!

It was really nice getting to chat with the owners when we got there. They were really welcoming and it was kind of like staying with family. When I got sick, I was given medicine and made sure I felt alright. They helped us find food and recommended a great place that was nearby and gave us extra snacks when we left. The art throughout the building is beautiful and if you are interested the owners will talk with you about what is there. The baths were a nice temperature and we never felt rushed.

Nice and clean traditional Japanese Onsen, with private onsen, traditional beds. The beds were very comfotable, sleep perfect due to river "noise" - we open the window and all nighnt we ciuld hear rivers flow... it was my best sleep ever!!!

This is definitely a place with a soul. The man running this place is amazing, hearing all his stories was a pleasure. He also offers great guidance abbout Nikko. Breakfast was great, amenities clean, and the location is very convinient. I was very surprised by the quality of my stay. Sweet potato treats were a great bonus :).
