The Minshuku is located in Chikatsuyu, which is a perfect location if you are hiking the Kumano Kodo. Whether you are taking two days from Tanabe or go all the way in one day, it is good to rest in Chikatsuyu. The Minshuku is very clean, with all the comfort of the room, kitchen and bathroom + shower. The best part is really Ike san hospitality, he can speak several languages and he is a great cook. From dinner to breakfast, including the lunch to go, everything he prepared was fully enjoyed. He is also very kind and overall interesting person to chat with. He definitely made our stay more comfortable.

The host was amazing and really did her best for us. The overall guesthouse was also clean and really cozy. We really enjoyed our time at SOLA guest house. Would definitely go here again if we were in the area.

All is cleaned and organized, we can easily spend few days with family and/or friends. Even have an outside balcony, garden side, both levels. Rooms are on the garden side, not on street side, so it is quite to sleep well.

Amazing place - it’s huge and the host is lovely guy who runs a great outdoors shop downstairs! The town is lovely and it’s in a great location, near the station and loads of places to eat nearby.

The property owner is very helpful and friendly. Good communication before the arrival. She arranged dinner and breakfast (both delicious). Also arranged luggage transport to the next destination. It all went smoothly and effortlessly. It is possible to do laundry in the cottage. This might be handy after hiking at Kumano Kodo for couple of days.

We were looking for a place to stay to explore nature, beaches and peaceful japan after staying in the big cities. This place is really nice, is brand new and is well thought through. We were staying as a family of 5: one on the couch below and 4 in the spacious sleeping room upstairs. The shop in the village (3 m walk) had all the necessary groceries, and the bento boxes/fresh fish is really good. As others have said: all amenities are there, the host is super responsive and goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. As it is in a quit residential area be mindful of neighbours but trust me, once here you will instantly become very relaxed

    - Great location just a short walk from the trail head for the Kumano Kodo - Hiroki & Naoko were excellent hosts. Very attentive and helpful. They served a delicious dinner and a great packed lunch for the walk. Hiroki also drove us to the trail head the next morning. - The room and facilities were all very clean and well kept.

    The host was very welcoming and warm-hearted. The place was very clean and spacious to rest and prepare for the trail. I stayed in the room upstairs with private bathroom with large bathtub, which I loved. The location was close enough to the popular starting point of the Kumano Kodo trail, Takijiri-Oji, but the thoughtful host drove me and the other guest to the starting point.

    Hiroki met us off the bus and drove us to his home which is in an amazing location to start the Kumano Kodo. The food was exceptional, added extras like beer and sake in the fridge for additional purchase as well as a bento for the road. Washing facilities were helpful, spotlessly clean and really couldn’t have done more for us including contacting the next accommodation for us and sorting luggage delivery. He is a real life angel
