We loved it so much we booked it again after a traumatic accommodation experience elsewhere. Seriously, it’s great. Freshly renovated, lovely pool, friendly staff and it just felt like a sanctuary. Would 100% stay again if I’m in this part of the world.

The breakfast was great, with fresh, crisp bagels and warm, comforting coffee—but honestly, that’s not the reason I chose to stay here. The bed was spacious, comfortable, and perfect for rest after a long flight. What made this place truly special to me, though, was the location and nostalgia. 23 years ago, I lived right across the street at 42 North Michigan Avenue, back when this hotel was still Vagabond Inn. The service was outstanding—the cashier even waited for me in the middle of the night to check in after my long journey. That level of care and hospitality made a lasting impression.

If you are looking for a genuine Route 66 1960s experience this hotel is it. It has a wonderful pool area surrounded by cabana rooms. There’s a great old illuminated neon sign at night. The rooms are old - but that’s the vibe. If you don’t like genuine 1960/70s this is not for you. The beds are comfortable. It’s really clean. There are nice details like old novels in the rooms. The air conditioning worked well. There is a breakfast served in the lobby included in the room rate. When we checked in the welcome from the young man behind the desk was first rate.

Feels like home, the house owner kept the place super clean. We didn’t expect that it’s in such a good location that we can enjoy the Chinese food in quite a few restaurants nearby. It’s close to Caltech university too if you’re interested to pay a visit. Also, the fig fruit from the owner’s tree is the best I have ever had:)

    Friendly, accommodating staff. Great location in Pasedena. Walked around and saw several homeless sleeping on sidewalks but never felt unsafe. Very clean city. Very clean, well kept hotel. Rooms look like they have been recently renovated. Very nice decor.

    The location on Route 66 as we were driving from Chicago to LA The room was comfortable, clean and spacious The lady on reception was friendly, helpful and chatty A few home made items added to the normal breakfast range was a nice touch. Very clean and inviting pool. The best we have seen to date on our trip.
