The centrally located Pohutukawa Lodge is an 8-minute walk from Whangarei's town centre. It is 5 minutes' drive from Whangarei Events Centre and Toll Stadium (Semenoff Stadium). Whangarei Airport is a 15-minute drive away. Our room was immaculately clean and very comfortable!!!

Set in Ahipara, Gems Seaside Lodge offers accommodation with seating area. This beachfront property offers access to free WiFi and free private parking. Guests can make use of the sun terrace or the barbecue, or enjoy views of the sea and garden. As soon as you walk in, you are taken aback with the view of the ocean directly infront. The studio was very comfortable and had everything you could want. The bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was well set up, including a coffee pod machine with a great selection of pods. There also was a Webber to BBQ on. It was nice to have the facility to wash your clothes. There was a comfy couch to sit on and good TV selection.

At the motel, each room comes with a balcony with a garden view. Featuring a private bathroom with a shower and free toiletries, rooms at Whangaroa Lodge Motel also offer a sea view. Guest rooms will provide guests with a fridge. View over the harbour was magnificent. Really close to the only restaurant in town. Staff very friendly with a wealth of local knowledge.

Set in Mangawhai in the Northland region, Chalet Cullen, features a garden. This property offers access to a balcony, darts, free private parking and free WiFi. The property is non-smoking and is located 1.8 km from Mangawhai Heads Beach. Even though we only had a single overnight stay at Chalet Cullen, we must say it’s on our top ten experiences of what we have had during our 6 weeks vacation in New Zealand. The unit was fine and cozy, and with a great view to the beach. The local radio station (FM 90.4) plays pop/rock from the good old days. What’s not to like. We can only give our best recommendations.

Shipwreck Bay Beach is 1.2 km from the lodge. Welcoming atmosphere, the house is tastefully furnished and decorated, we had a tremendous view onto the garden and the beautiful beach.

Lodge Bordeaux features a heated outdoor pool, a barbecue pavilion and an in-room breakfast service. A 5-minute drive from Whangarei’s city centre, it offers free unlimited WiFi.

Fully air-conditioned, the self-contained rooms have a full kitchen with a microwave, a fridge and a stove. The seating area comes with a DVD player and a flat-screen TV with some satellite channels. All bathrooms include underfloor heating and most rooms have a spa bath. Very clean well maintained. Very European feel. Wonderful welcome. Ordered delicious breakfast brought to our room. Great little spot on Quay to go to dinner (town basin area).

The guest house provides guests with a terrace, sea views, a seating area, satellite flat-screen TV, a fully equipped kitchenette with a dishwasher and an oven, and a private bathroom with shower and bathrobes. A microwave, a toaster and fridge are also available, as well as a coffee machine and a kettle. At the guest house, each unit includes bed linen and towels. We liked Bellrock Lodge and this little village so much, we even extended our stay! :) It is worth staying longer in Kororareka Russell and especially at Bellrock Lodge, so let us tell you why: Bellrock Lodge is situated on a little hill (if you walk, there are a few steep meters) and because of that, you will have the most amazing views from your terrace over the coast. On clear days you will even see as far as Waitangi. The apartment and the terrace are quite spacious, even the bathroom offers more than usual space in rental properties. It is very nice equipped. The garden is beautiful so you also see beautiful garden greenery from the terrace. The hosts Catherine and Stuart are very kind and responded fast via WhatsApp. Their sweet dog Piper was also a great host and excited to offer play time with her favorite football and such :D Catherine and Stuart were always very hospitable, so for instance, if you get in a morning rain like us, getting new towels is easy peasy, just a message/call away ;-) The Lodge offers great amendities: laundry, dryer, DVD Library (great selection, we loved it), CD and Book Library aswell... To top it off, the Whirlpool and BBQ area are great, with superb views also. We loved to enjoy the Spa, especially on rainy days. In addition to that, we highly appreciated how thoughtful everything is equipped, there are umbrellas in the driveway, wineglasses from plastic for the Spa, different chairs (even comfy reading/TV chairs), more than 2 different towel sizes and many more things like that.. We have travelled a lot and Bellrock Lodge is one of our favorites. You nearly forget, that you are at a self-service accomendation because everything is so thoughtfully done. It is worth staying longer, you can experience a lot in the area, walk to the beaches from Bellrock if you want to, get groceries and have great restaurants/cafés in town.
