Great location, very near hallstat. The view from the hotel is great. Various breakfast. Lots of activities for family. The Staff is supurb. In 1 shelter, there are upper and lower floor. In lower floor, threre is a kitchen. Very recommend!!

This hut is privately run by a family from Nepal. Our stay there felt so very peaceful, and the food was lovely. The location is absolutely beautiful. Really enjoyed being there. We hiked down to Hallstatt from there, and the trail was very well maintained and offered amazing views.

    We travelled with 3 different trains from Vienna to...

    We travelled with 3 different trains from Vienna to Obertraun in order to visit Hallstat. Unfortunately, the transportation wasn't very convenient for us. One of the trains that we had arranged was late and we had to wait two more hours in order to get the last train to Obertraun. We departed from Vienna at 8:00 and we arrived to Obertraun at 15:30! Obertraun was very close to Hallstat. Hallstat is a magical place but next time I would prefer to visit it by car.

    Stay in beautiful Obertraun instead of the overpriced and crowded Hallstatt! We stayed 3 nights in a lovely accommodation Haus Edelweiss, and following the recommendations of lovely host Nina, we spent one day walking from Obertruan to Hallstatt. Along the way, we saw this stone path going up the hill and we went up (very do-able hike), and it led to a very beautiful view of Hallstatt! We then went down the other way and continued walking towards Hallstatt, explored the beautiful village and took the ferry (Euro 12/pax) back to Obertruan. Next day, we walked a loop from Obertruan to Koppenwinlsee. The walk was very lovely and we saw tiny red strawberries everywhere! There was a restaurant after Koppenwinslee but I think it was closed on Mon-Wed (please check), and other days open for lunch & dinner, so time yourself to make it in time for lunch/dinner. We were stopping so often to admire the scenery that we missed their lunch time! It is better to visit during non-summer to enjoy Austria.

    Beautiful town as if directly out of fairytales... Good option to stay when visiting Hallstatt... Queiter...serene..cheaper accomodation compared to hallstatt...good connectivity to reach hallstatt.

    Very very beautiful place, it just like fairy tales story!

    Very very beautiful place, it just like fairy tales story! Even we missed the bus to go to Hallstatt, just chilling on this river side it was still a very good moment and experience. The swan came to eat my shoes btw.

    We liked Obertraun because it was an easy 40 minute walk to Hallstatt and after spending a day there, we could get away from the crowds and numerous shops for some peace and quiet in Obertraun. Obertraun has unobstructed views of the beautiful mountains. We didn’t particularly like having only one restaurant in Obertraun open for meals. Thank God the pizzeria had a variety of decent food as we had to eat there on both nights.

    Obertraun is great spot for tourists and people who like...

    Obertraun is great spot for tourists and people who like hiking in Dachstein area. The town itself is not so big and crowdy. There is one supermarket and only few restaurants in the town but Hallstatt and other towns are not far away by car. Close proximity to Hallstattersee is also big benefit for summer swimming or walking along the lake.

    The host allowed us to checkin early at 10am, though checkin time was in afternoon. Thank you for this and helped us a lot, especially as we had shall kid and we could park the luggage! We fulled ourselves with food before leaving to ``Dachstein Krippenstein`` in the afternoon. The place is very close to a bus stop which has good connectiviy to Hallstadt as well as Dachstein Krippenstein. Obertraun Train Station is at 5min walk. Grab approx. 5 EUR/person day pass from the Bus and travel haselfree throughout Obertraun and Hallstatt.

    The resort is just a few minutes away from Hallstatt so it's really handy if you want to visit. The grounds of the hotel are on the same lake which make it even nicer. When we arrived there were people catching rays and having a swim. The apartment was ok it had a very well equipped kitchen. They have ebikes if you want to hire them to explore, and you have a private parking place for each apartment. Breakfast was brilliant, we didn't try the restaurant. Overall I would definitely recommend it, I would have stayed longer.

    Everything ❤️❤️ The view and the quietness - of course! As well as the friendly staff, cleanliness and facilities :-) It isn't far from the main Hallstatt tour spot, only 15mins bus from 3-min-walk bus stop, but you get to have the peace and quiet of the lake because this hotel is far far away from the crowd the tourists of Hallstatt

    Good, close to Hallstadt by car, bus or even by feet (1 hour walk in beautiful sceneries). In general it's OK despite of the disappointments I mentioned. There are not many good hotels for reasonable price near Halltadt and Dormio Resort is good enough to stay there.
