The location was very convenient. The hotel's interior was surprisingly chic and modern for being in an old building. The room overlooking the courtyard was very quiet. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of delicious food.

The room was nice, and the bathroom was lovely, but as it was in the hof, it was just a place to sleep. The breakfast was basic, just rolls and some ham and cheese. No fruit or muesli. If you asked for an egg, they made one, but it wasn't offered.

Waidhofen is an attractive old town with parts of the medieval city wall still intact. There is a scenic promenade along the outside of the wall. We were stunned by the beautiful interior of the church - an absolute must-see! An unexpected attraction was a large enclosure with over a dozen rare Waldrapp birds - a nearly extinct species of ibis.

We stayed in Waidhofen an der Thaya while completing the...

We stayed in Waidhofen an der Thaya while completing the Thaya Tal cycle path over three days. The whole circular cycle path, partially into the Czech Republic is a lovely route, mostly on dedicated bike paths or quiet country roads. Beautiful scenery. E-bikes would be recommended unless you are serious bikers. In Waidhofen we had a fabulous dinner at Gasthaus Lorbaer, just down the road from Konditerei Mussauer.

I travel a lot due to my work and I stayed in a lot of hotels and motels. This one was so unexpectedly nice and cozy (unexpectedly because you don’t expect much from motel). Not so big but decent breakfast. New clean rooms. 24/7 access to free tea and coffee.

The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful whenever we had a query. The rooms were all very large, clean and comfortable. There was a nice relaxed feel to the hotel in a great location. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
