We had an issue with our motorbike and needed help communicating in German with the key service, as we couldn’t unlock the disc lock. The staff was extremely helpful and showed great determination in assisting us. They didn’t give up even after several attempts and made sure we were taken care of. I would especially like to give credit to the girls at the reception, whose kindness and persistence made a stressful situation much easier. Because of this experience, we will definitely be coming back in the future.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Traube in Zell am See, and I can't recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. The location is absolutely breathtaking, with stunning views of the lake and mountains that can be enjoyed from the comfort of our room. The accommodations were cozy, modern, and impeccably clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring we had a restful night's sleep after a day of exploring. The hotel's amenities are top-notch. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, offering a delicious variety of fresh local produce, pastries, and hearty options to fuel our adventures. Zell am See itself is a gem, with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy year-round. Whether hiking, skiing, or simply strolling around the charming town, there’s something for everyone. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We appreciated the complimentary coffee and water. The towel basket, bathrobes and slippers were a nice touch. The bathroom was a comfortable size and the toiletries were good quality. The swimming pool and sauna were excellently maintained and well designed. The breakfast was tasty offering a large variety of foods.

Mountain Paradise in Salzburg Province

A paradise in the Austrian state of Salzburg, Zell am See is located along the shores of the Zell Lake and surrounded by mountains like the 2000-metre high Schmittenhöhe. It is an important ski centre in the winter and a hiking and mountain-biking paradise during summer.

The area has been occupied since Roman times, but the village was founded around the year 740 by the order of Bishop Johannes I of Salzburg. The picturesque Old Town includes typical Alpine style buildings, as well as the oldest building of the region, St. Hippolyte's Church.     Great location and view of the lake, but wished we had booked a room with a balcony and view. Room and facilities were very clean. A bit impersonal as there was no staff in the evening but overall great stay.

    An excellent place to visit. Beautiful scenery.

    An excellent place to visit. Beautiful scenery. Loads to see and do. Lovely food. Would advise when booking accommodation that you book somewhere that includes the summer card as this gives you free access to all the gondolas in the area and free travel on local buses and trains plus discounted entry to many activities and saves you a lot of money.

    You can see a lot of facilities with the summer card. A lot to do for families ( hiking, cycling, rafting, bathing, swimming, sightseeing,visiting museums ). The food and drinks in restaurants are expensive, so it’s better to have food included in the hotel price or buy it in the store.

    It's the right midpoint between the regions of Leogang and...

    It's the right midpoint between the regions of Leogang and Saalbach-Hinterglemm, if you are into mountain biking, and the Grosser Donnerkogel, if you are into via ferratas. Being in Zell am See gave us the possibility to do multiple things withing a 1h driving radius.

    Zell am See is rightly popular because it is uperbly located on the most beautiful lake, with mountain scenery that changes with the light throughout the day. it is also makes an excellent centre for touring. special mention must be made of the Kaprun Glacier and the Kaprun Reservoir. Simply unmissable.

    Views of the lake with the best mountain backgrounds are from the other end of the lake - the most northerly. We didn't do it, but it looks like a good place to hire bikes or electric bikes to see more of the lakeside.

    Me and my wife went to Zell am see Austria for the Christmas holidays to do some skiing we booked our trip last minute and we picked Landhaus Gitti , when we got there we received and warm welcome from the owners , and we got treated so well through our the complete stay and the owners couldn’t do enough to help you with your plans and your stay the breakfast was all hand served and made fresh and was one off our highlights was looking forward to the breakfast each morning , great place to stay and well will be back to stay another time.

    The hotel owners and staff were really are interested in the hotel and how its run smoothly. The Austrian breakfast was consistently very good along with the service. Location is perfect , quiet but walking distance to everything is 5 mins. The Summer card was a extra bonus which was exceptional value. lido, boat trips, lake cruise, cable cars, and many more all for free. The longer you stay the more things you can do to make it more valuable. Zell am see is lovely in the summer with so much to do.

    on quieter side of Zell am See but very close to cityxpress cable car station and bus 71 station which going to other 3 cable car stations operating in summer time. Window view of the top of mountain Schimittenhöhe, beautiful sunset view of the mountain. flowers draped over the balcony railing, which is exactly what I dreamed of a Alpine hotel/chalet. The breakfast room is with a lot alpine traditional decorations. Anni, the host is lovely and welcoming.

    Comfortable room. Very good breakfast. Ski / boot room warm. Just over 300m to Ariet gondola. Ski bus stops just outside for Kaprun or Zell Am See on the lake. Bus depot is 250m from hotel where Line 260 bus departs to Salzburg airport. Zell Am Zee is a very pleasant town to stroll around with loads of restaurants and cafes.
