Lovely clean town with an impressive main street loaded with eateries and restaurants of all categories. It's a fun place with a multi-cultural atmosphere. The food, wines and local produce are second to none. The Pioneer Park and Museum was absolutely mind boggling- such a huge collection of old buildings and machinery- we got there at 11am and left at 4pm- amazing what they are doing there. The town of Griffith is great for foodies.
The town of Griffith is great for foodies. Some good restaurants, great wineries. We particularly enjoyed the Calabria Winery. We also went driving around to look at all the farming areas around Griffith, so much more than just oranges. The city is well laid out, plenty of interesting places and surrounds, people are friendly and considerate. Malcolm’s restaurant was generic, clean, well staffed and the food excellent. When I got off the train at Griffith at 8 20pm a friendly lady from the tourist office or bus co. met me and asked if I needed help with transport. She pointed to a bus and said "that bus will take you right to your hotel." I said, "oh I dont have any cash." She said "It's ok, get on." The bus driver was busy. I boarded and sat down and put down my luggage. Then he said "$2.30." I said "oh I told the lady (who was at the door) I don't have any cash." He replied "well get off then." This makes it a great location for walking, cheese platters and wine tastings. The property has great security, a lift for cases of wine and the town murals are located in the laneway close to the hotel.
