We were surprised by the amount of shops on the main street...
We were surprised by the amount of shops on the main street that had closed or shut down completely. Also hiring a car was very expensive so had to use public transport as an alternative. Also the Kalgoorlie Half day tour provided by the Kalgoorlie Tourist Office was very expensive at $400 per person and thus took the public transport bus on their circuit routes around Kalgoorlie and Boulder instead. We went to Lake Ballard Sculptures, Superpit, and the two mining museums. All interesting and informative. Loved the gold room with the historic gold samples. Sculptures were worth seeing and a great idea. Also cruised around Kalgoorlie - Boulder. Just absorbing the ambience of a historic mining town.Guest review byJoeAustralia - 8.0
What a great town to visit.
What a great town to visit. So many interesting tourist spots and the buildings around town were an absolute delight. The food was excellent in town. Very impressed. You definitely need a car to visit some spots however, the town itself has a lot to offer and is very walkable. Very interesting town. Great pubs. Lots of lovely old buildings. The Superpit lookout was closed when we were there which was disappointing but I have heard it is fascinating. Super pit tour, town museum and Haman's tourist mine excellent. Mt Charlotte- excellent trail with information boards . Beautiful bush land park with excellent picnic facilities and children's park. Had everything needed for a villa. I extended out stay another night before we left to drive back to Perth. Staff was also amazing and very friendly. Villa had it’s private parking outside the villa. 6 hour drive was worth it. Thank u Rydges Kalgoorlie. We will definitely be back to stay longer.
