We did not have the breakfast but we did have a evening meal there and we all enjoyed our meals. There were four adults and three children. The staff were very helpful and obliging.

The accommodation was neat, clean and very well designed with everything provided and more. Even some biscuits to go with the cup of tea we could make ourselves. We arrived late evening - keys and excellent instructions made it all so easy.

So much history in Maryborough.

So much history in Maryborough. The military museum is one of the best in Australia. The Gallipoli trail is a must. The river is lovely and the town is peaceful but has everything you want for a few days to see all the history.

There is a lot to see in Maryborough.

There is a lot to see in Maryborough. Be there for Thursday morning and go to the Market in Adelaide St. Good quality and well priced produce. Stock up on Honey. Many Heritage Buildings and Museums to visit.

Even with the rain falling nearly the entire time we were in...

Even with the rain falling nearly the entire time we were in Maryborough, the town’s charm still shone through. From its beautifully preserved heritage buildings to the friendly locals and relaxed pace, there’s a quiet magic to the place that no amount of rain can wash away. The streets were peaceful, the cafes warm and welcoming, and there’s something oddly soothing about watching the historic town glisten in the rain. Fittingly, the skies cleared on the day we left, revealing just how stunningly beautiful Maryborough truly is. We’ll definitely be back—hopefully with a little more sunshine next time!

So much interesting history, the woman who wrote Mary...

So much interesting history, the woman who wrote Mary Poppins was born in Maryborough. Such an interesting town, so much historical significance for Queensland a great place to visit and if my circumstances were different, I’d actually consider moving and living in Maryborough.

I knew almost nothing about Maryborough.

I knew almost nothing about Maryborough. I found it quite an interesting town. I thought I'd just walk around it in the evening and for perhaps an hour in the morning, but I didn't leave town until midday, and this was without visiting any of the museums or other tourist attractions that were open in the town centre, apart from a quick tour of the Cistern Chapel. And this was on a Sunday! Apparently it's got a reputation for being one of the best places in Australia for militaria. It also has the Story Bank which is inspired by being the birthplace of P. L. Travers, the author of Mary Poppins. And some of the pedestrian crossings have Mary Poppins inspired walk and don't walk symbols.

Maryborough is a good place to stop on you trip if...

Maryborough is a good place to stop on you trip if travelling through the are. Access to main highway is easy and city has all the amenities. Only issue we had was trying to get take away Chinese food - one hour wait time at all restaurants.

We absolutely loved our stay at McNevins Maryborough, the managers Louise and Shane were the perfect hosts. When I walked into reception upon our arrival after a long day of driving, I was greeted by Louise and what a lovely warm and friendly woman she is, I was made to feel at home straight away. I would not hesitate to stay there again the Motel was beautiful, the rooms were spotless, loved the pool and the town of Maryborough is worth exploring if you have some time it is worth it.

Sonja and Michael are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcomed to the hotel and Maryborough. The room was clean, comfortable and affordable. We had originally planned to stay one night but extended our stay to two. The beds are comfortable and the shower is powerful. Next time we visit Maryborough, we will stay again. Thank you!

Helene, our hostess could not have been more helpful in helping us settle in and in providing advice on how to make the most of our visit to Maryborough. She even drove us (at no cost) to the pub she said provided an excellent meal. It did. Although small, the room was all we needed, was clean and well provisioned.

Comfortable bed clean shower.. Fridge not very cold.. Friday and Saturday nights got very rowdy with groups of drunken patrons,arguing,screaming women need more sound brakes from pub to hotel…
