The definition of serenity. A little house surrounded by a beautiful natural garden of trees and ferns. I never saw another person, car or any sign of human life, other than by little house.

Close to cradle mountain. Large parking lot allows parking close to rooms. The decoration and interior design create a Sherlock homes feeling with a super nice lounge area which has a fireplace very nice to have friends gathering together and play around. Breakfast is very good.

It was a special and peaceful retreat in a cabin surrounded by the forest. Both the reception area and the cabins were beautifully designed. The fireplace inside the cabin kept us very warm—so much so that at night, we even left the window slightly open while the fire was still going. It was conveniently close to the Visitor Centre and Devils @ Cradle. The kitchen had all the utensils we needed, but I’d recommend bringing enough ingredients if you plan to cook your own meals.

This is the perfect location as you're tucked away on Mt Roland but still within short driving distance to Cradle Moutain and the town of Sheffield. On site facilities are amazing with a a small rnage of breakfast items provided, as well as outdoor fire pits, fire places and your own private outdoor bath to watch the sunset.

The room is very spacious with good lighting. Decor is good. Wide selection of food in breakfast. Both Highland Resturant and Tavern Bistro are delicious. Spotted wallaby and wombat right in front of the shop. Very comfortable stay. Highly recommended.

Reaching Moina by car, even in the inclement weather, was beautiful and easy to do. As long as you drive to suit the road conditions and watch out for wombats, wallabies and paddies, it’s a lovely drive up to Cradle Mountain via Moina.

Some people would not like the 8 kilometres of winding gravel road in the to the resort but it wasn't a problem for us being rural dwelling Tasmanians and it was in good condition. This is part and parcel of staying at a wilderness retreat. The cabin was warm and comfortable and the in cabin spa was a bonus after a chilly day at Cradle Mountain. Food was adequate and well cooked especially the Bush Breakfast. Staff were cheerful and efficient. We would love to stay again.

    Nice location and rooms.

Nice location and rooms. No nearby evening restaurants, so we took all our own food, but there were limited cooking facilities. Cafe attached to property can do meals but they have to be preordered and delivered by 5pm. We were never back from walking by that time, so that did not suit us

Lovely character filled location with log cabins that provided privacy and yet a lovely view overlooking the forest. I took my own food and kitchen facilities were great. It was lovely and warm inside, despite being below zero temperatures outside overnight!

A quiet secluded spot, definitely back to nature.

A quiet secluded spot, definitely back to nature. Plenty of wildlife particularly at night, plenty of birds during the daytime. Close to cradle mountain to explore if you want but plenty of walks close by, not all easy but some are duckboards. Great breakfast included and good selection and delicious dinner options in the restaurant. Microwave in your room, but I wouldn’t plan on driving in/out at night, good road but in places quite narrow so passing at night would be interesting.

Cradle Mountain and resort restaurants are only a 15 minute drive away. Wombat Cabin is rustic, remote, quiet, but with electricity and hot water! Extra breakfast groceries provided gave us more eating flexibility - much appreciated. Great wood stove heats up the whole place. On our Tassie trip, the big hotels we stayed at were fine, but Wombat Cabin was the most memorable, positive experience.
