The enthusiasm of our hosts taking on the renovation of a listed building while providing a comfortable quirky 'apartment' for guests. The extra care given to breakfast food and snacks adds to a welcoming atmosphere. The eclectic furnishings and art work all add to a stay that is a bit out of the ordinary. The sound of the nearby night freight trains only add to the stay. The property has served as a train ticket office, a post office as well as a pub. A bit of bygone era being kept alive.

Oatlands is a beautiful town just an hour’s drive from Hobart. The town is full of history and charm, with gorgeous old sandstone buildings. Our visit coincided with the Heritage and Bullock Festival, which kids enjoyed, the old tractors and parade were great. Everything was easy to access, and the atmosphere felt relaxed yet lively. Oatlands is a hidden gem that we would love to return to and explore even more next time.

Great spot for a night or 2.

Great spot for a night or 2. Ride to Parattah or walk around the lake. Meal at the pub was excellent. Wonderful swim and gym centre. Great wool shop 🥰🥰. Carrington Mill interesting and great for lunch . Arkwright and Carpenter worth a look. Lovely sandstone buildings and interesting history. Be prepared for early morning frosts after a cold clear night!

A town of fascinating history, wonderful old buildings and many interesting shops. However check before you go, what places are open for meals at night. It would appear everything is closed Monday and Tuesday nights.

Oatlands is a charming historic village and really is a must-see. Informative plaques have been placed on many of the houses and buildings and there's plenty of history. A very talented gardener has done a great job trimming hedges into all sorts of interesting ?statues. There's good food available at a number of places but be aware that opening hours are not always standard business hours.

Oatlands is a gorgeous little town, full of character, textured and varied. You really need to take a little time to get to know it and discover all its gems, some out in the open, some a little more hidden. I visited for the first time in December last year, spent a little longer this time and thus had the opportunity to savour it a bit more. Sublime, beautiful, this is a really special town, I still haven't done everything and I look forward to visiting again.

A beautifully maintained historic village with a large number of buildings classified by the National Trust. Most buildings are in the local sandstone and are maintained and presented in excellent condition. There are many boards on buildings with a brief history of year built, original owner and initial use. A very well presented historic village.

A cosy cottage, very clean and comfortable with all you need, parking at the door, plus a good sized bathroom including a bathtub. Suitable for a couple and very convenient to the village CBD. We met the lovely owner who came to say goodbye as we were leaving. Oatlands is a delightful historic village, exceeding our expectations. Had lunch and a whisky tasting at the Callington Mill, dinner at The Kentish Hotel and coffee at Brunch. All great food and exceptional service.

The building was like an old British-style hotel/pub with accommodation on first floor. Room was decent with a semi-attached small lounge room. Location was central at main road. Check-in was self-check in.
