We stayed at Namur the previous year, but only for one night as en route to Luxemburg. Decided to come back for a couple of nights. It is a beautiful city with lots of lovely shops and restaurants. Great views of the city from the Citadel which can be reached by cable car. We did that on our last trip. This time we took a tourist boat along the river and it was most enjoyable. Generally unknown gem of a place that is little known outside of Belgium. Namur seemed fully booked, being a celebration weekend, but we found our stay in Jaumes was in fact perfect for our one night. Close to all amenities and after securely parking the car we spent our time exploring the nearby citadel and riverside. Citadel was interesting, we did the underground tour and really enjoyed it. Cable car was fun, good views, busier going up than down. There are river boat tours too. It was easy to catch the cable car down to the lovely town of Namur below though it shut down at 6pm so it would be hard to spend the evening there. It’s a hotel training school & we weren’t sure what to expect concerning the food but the meal was amazing. The bed and pillows are very comfortable, we had two very good nights of sleep. The location is good, you can walk up the hill to the citadel in about 10 to 15 minutes. The centre is also about a 10 mins walk. There is parking on the street which is free on the weekends and a paid parking dedicated to the hotel and casino guests. I would like to point out the kindness of staff, the excellent breakfast (buffet), coffee and tea facilities in the room (which is hardly to be found elsewhere in Belgium), the lift.
