Visited for hiking to Balkan Mts, Botev Peak.
Visited for hiking to Balkan Mts, Botev Peak. Enjoyed our stay and the mountain. Imposing Socialist monument at the centre of the town. Nice restaurant at the very center. Nice draft beer and nice surrounding. Other restaurants of Kalofer were closed at the afternoon. We were surprised with the road network of Bulgaria which is in very good condition. We were in Kalofer during the regional rose festival.
We were in Kalofer during the regional rose festival. Lots of festivities and people dancing in traditional dress. The museum of bobbin lace was quite interesting. The old school house has also been turned into a museum. Lovely revival style architecture.Guest review byJamesUnited States - 6.0
I think tourists outside of Bulgaria should come prepared...
I think tourists outside of Bulgaria should come prepared with all the information they need about the hikings and siteseeing in Kalofer. We had a bit of trouble managing as we relied on local tourist information center but could'nt find it. Local people were extremely nice, but some didn't speak English. The Balkan park is stunning but roads are rough if you're not in a high 4×4, and trails are lacking signs in English.Guest review byAVIVIsrael

The house we stayed at was nice and clean, more than spacious enough for 2 people. The lady who met us was super friendly and helpful, she welcomed us and gave us valuable information about a few peculiarities of the area - such as the fact that only one of the mobile phone carriers has coverage, the other two don't.
