Tiradentes is a very pretty town, and even the new buildings...
Tiradentes is a very pretty town, and even the new buildings conforming to the established style so they don't detract from the historic look of the area. It's not big, but it is interesting with a motor cycle museum and a car museum, plus an old railway station on preserved a narrow gauge railway that runs a steam train from and to São João del Rei on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, hauled by an American locomotive that looks straight out of a western movie. At the other end of the line there's an excellent railway museum. For more sedate travel, you can have a pony and trap ride. This is a town geared for tourism with many pousadas, restaurants, gift shops, artisanal ice cream parlours., and some nice old churches. The local people are very friendly. It's a nice place to spend a couple of days. If you have a car, that's even better as you can use Tiradentes as a base to visit further afield.Guest review byJohnBrazil - 10.0

Great restaurants - all kinds of food. The Walking Tour is a must - the guides take you through the history of this preserved town. It is very safe to walk around in Tiradentes. It was easy to park the car in front of the pousada. The room was very comfortable with nice beds and linen and a warm blanket. The pousada has a very nice atmosphere and nice details and is clean. It was very cold in the morning and evening, too cold to swim, the pool was much smaller than I expected but this did not matter as it was too cold to swim anyhow.
