Zug is a modern town that relies on international business and international visitors... Generally people are friendly and very family orientated, you may occasionally find the odd old 'grumpy' , wealthy swiss person that will correct your German grammar or look down their nose at you... But apart from this it's hard to fault this lakeside town. The old town is stunning and the restaurants and bars are truly special. The lake is stunning and the mountainous backdrop is truly beautiful. My daughter loved the open pedestrian friendly streets and apart from the high prices it's a great place to live/ work or visit especially for families and slightly older people.Guest review byMattNetherlands - 10.0

This was a charming place to stay that was near enough to Zurich airport for departure, but not right in the city (which is also lovely, but we wanted to try a different place to stay). It’s a very quiet & beautiful little Swiss town that has everything you need for comfort and distance wise very reachable: restaurants, gyms, bars, commute, shops, etc. it’s especially known for amazing lakes, stalactite caves, wild green nature around, parks- incl a bird park by the lake and other peaceful poetic sights. The tax heaven on Switzerland. Quiet nice place to live. For tourism? Give me a break, it's country side. Outdoor activities, walking and enjoying big lake (Zugersee). But not really a tourist place. Zug is very nice and amazing city, located at the beautiful lake Zugersee. I recommend following restaurants: Chez Ladur, Juanitos, Puccini, Zeno's and Sihlmatt in Menzingen. My wife and I both enjoyed the lakefront as well as the restaurants that are to be found in that area. The sunset on a clear summer night as one wound look across the water to the alps is among the most beautiful in the world. It is very welcoming and spacious. We had a room with our own bathroom and it was spotlessly clean. There was some noise from other guests (a school or college trip I imagine) but it wasn’t for long. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. Lovely evening swim in the lake. I am an older guest (65) and I would highly recommend this hostel.
