Our two-week stay at Are Kapakapa was absolutely incredible. This family-run gem offers a unique blend of comfort, hospitality, and natural beauty that truly makes it stand out. From the moment we arrived, Vaa and Joliene, the wonderful hosts who manage the property, welcomed us with such warmth and genuine care that we instantly felt at home. Their attention to detail and commitment to ensuring our stay was perfect made the experience unforgettable. The property itself is a slice of paradise. Surrounded by lush coconut trees, the entire house exudes a peaceful charm. One of the highlights of our stay was the close proximity to the beach—just a short walk away. It’s hands down one of the best beaches we’ve ever visited, with pristine sands and crystal-clear waters that made every moment there magical. The house is fantastic—spacious, immaculately clean, and well-equipped to provide a cozy and comfortable experience. The cool sea breeze and the thoughtful layout of the house ensured we were always comfortable. It’s clear that Vaa and Joliene have put great effort into making Are Kapakapa a home away from home for their guests. Another highlight of our stay was exploring the fruit trees around the property. The coconuts were a delightful treat, perfect for a refreshing snack after spending time at the beach. Every aspect of Are Kapakapa reflects the love and effort that Vaa and Joliene pour into their hospitality. The combination of the peaceful atmosphere, thoughtful amenities, and personal touches made our stay truly special. Whether you’re enjoying the serenity of the house, savoring fresh coconuts, or soaking up the beauty of the nearby beach, it’s an experience that stays with you. The room was perfect, clean and around ten meters from the lagoon - which by the way I think is one of the most beautiful on the island. The place was calm - like the whole island. Our host was amazing! She was very helpful and kind. Restaurants and cafe in walking distance. I can only recommend the place!

We stayed in Villa 100 , on beachfront which we were so impressed with. It was huge !. Had its own private entrance onto beach right by lagoon , a front open lounge / dining area with roof , that looked out on stunning views of lagoon and beach : no other thatched cottages/ villas either side , so very private. Next to pool . Kitchenette area was well stocked with coffee machine , fridge , freezer , electric plug in hob , basic kitchen equipment. Bedroom was huge , with great air con and also ceiling fans , with very large double shower ensuite and separate toilet. The ambience of the resort is very friendly , all staff in restaurant were lovely . Food is exceptional at night and at breakfast. Options to walk down beach from here to other resort bars if needed. Their Cultural Island Feast with dancing performance & music was incredible . A huge buffet to help yourself from and live music , Polynesian local dancing. We loved staying at Tamaru . The Manager checked on everyone staying which was great customer service. Highly recommend this place .

Simon is an amazing host . He picked us from airport and showed us around the island. We didn’t hire a car so without him it would be so hard to get around the island. He’s also very knowledgeable about the island . We’ve went on a ride and he talked about each village, some famous for crab , some famous for rugby players.

We absolutely loved our stay at Matriki! Although we spent four nights there, it felt far too short. Matthias is an exceptional host, full of fascinating knowledge about Aitutaki and its history, making every conversation insightful. We also joined his boat tour around the lagoon, which was truly unforgettable. Unlike other tour companies, Matthias takes his time, ensuring you can fully relax and enjoy the experience without ever feeling rushed.

Katrina the daughter of the owners was absolutely unbelievable. There was a few technical issues when we arrived and she had them all sorted with a personal visit. She even took us to the shop to get some groceries, beautiful beautiful place to stay immaculate grounds out the front. There’s a swimming hole channel that’s just a few hundred metres up the beach overall could not fault. Across the road there is a fantastic little coffee shop for breakfast and they do lovely Asian food for dinner. Had the best sausage roll ever. Not really recommend this location and property.

    1st time in Aitutaki we stayed 1 night... this time 2 nights.. next time at least 3! The bone fishing is the best in the world, the views are incredible and the people are the best/nicest of all. If you're going to come to rarotonga, make the trip to Aitutaki Socials: Fish Eat Repeat

    I loved the friendliness of the islanders.

    I loved the friendliness of the islanders. My bike chain came off 3 times on a ride to the grocery store. Each time an islander came out of their house, or stopped their car to help. Once on a walk, a woman invited us to her porch and gave us 15 mangoes. In today’s troubled these acts of kindness by the cook islanders, was such a reassuring thing.

    Loved the location and beach views.

    Loved the location and beach views. A small amount of eating facilities in the area, and most were very good. We used tourist activity vans to be picked up and delivered, plus our accommodation did transfers to/from airport. So we did not have transport. Readily available car and scooter rental at our accommodation had we wanted it. Recommend the lagoon tours at Aitutaki

    Definitely stay here.

    Definitely stay here. We stayed just the one night, and could've stayed here much longer. It's so peaceful and the locals are very friendly and welcoming. Excellent places to eat are close by and the beach is immaculate.

    The weather was not the best, so hampered our judgement. The people were very nice and we were very pleased to have a rental car with Aircon, so we covered the whole island on driving adventures! However, it would be more convenient if the car hire places were at the airport, and/or they would work in more closely with the plane arrivals and departures (We had to wait 2 hours for our plane because the company dropped us there at 5pm, which is the latest they will work...) The two cafes (Avatea & Koru), and the Pacific resort, were excellent!

    Include a walk around the island to get the feel of its fabulous location. We put the ambience before our food expectations - breakfasts were generous, lunches were our most enjoyed and the dinners relaxing with Thursday happy hour, local musicians playing and the location adding to a great holiday. A great Resort particularly suitable for young couples with as much or as little activity available as one could wish for.

    We had a truly wonderful stay at Aitutaki Private Lagoon Resort. The resort itself was stunning, but it was the exceptional service from the hotel staff that made our experience truly memorable. A special thanks to Jennifer for her warmth and attentiveness, and to Wise, Mera, and Pati for their outstanding hospitality. The restaurant staff also deserves praise for their ambient personalities and excellent service. Every detail was handled with remarkable care. Thank you for making our time here so special!

    Not a 5 star hotel but amazing set up on a fantastic island..... probably the best way to enjoy the island style life..... location excellent....sunset view spectacular. Staff very helpful and happy to do the extra mile to accommodate you. Lovely cat always ready for some cuddles. Fair price. Doesn't have all the confort of a top end resort but c'mon, chill and enjoy the nature!!! Definitely recommended!!!

    Good location with a nice beach, nice, clean and cozy huts with everything you need. Lagoon tour was really good. You could walk along the beach to restaurants of nearby hotels in case you didn't want to cook. Free bikes were great to explore the island.
