Drake Bay is a remote yet breathtaking destination, and our stay at Natural Drake Bay Hotel made our visit truly unforgettable. We spent four nights here as the final leg of our Costa Rica trip, hoping to find a comfortable place that would enhance our experience of this faraway corner of the world. I’m thrilled to say we couldn’t have chosen a better place. Natural Drake Bay is a family-run hotel situated in a stunning location, perched perfectly to offer beautiful views of the bay. Both the pool and restaurant offer stunning views of the bay, creating a mesmerizing scene —at one point, we even saw whales jumping from the water! The beach is also just a 3 minute walk. Patricia, Daniel, and their team, particularly Victor, provide a luxurious experience. Throughout our stay, we felt very well cared for. Everyday, when you arrive, Patricia welcomes you with refreshing, beautifully scented cold towels, which is a wonderful treat after a hot day. Victor then serves the most exquisite fruit juices I’ve ever tasted. Even when activities (Corcovado Park visit, Snorkeling in Caño Island, ….) started at the crack of dawn, they were there to prepare breakfast for you The hotel takes great pride in highlighting local cuisine at dinner, with top quality produce exquisitely cooked. The rooms offer views of the surroundings, which were full of life (Birds, Iguanas, Monkeys) and relaxing in the hammocks was a spectacle in itself. Toucans would perch in the tree next to the cabin, while showering. The toiletries were of high quality, adding to the overall sense of luxury. In summary, Natural Drake Bay Hotel provided us with an exceptional experience, combining comfort, natural beauty, and warm hospitality.

The staff were amazing, incredibly helpful and helped us have a brilliant time. The hotel has its own dock which makes going on tours of the area really easy. Highly recommend getting the transfer boat from Sierpe, very easy and quick.,

We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. The host, Mayela, was so helpful and accommodating. She also booked the boat to and from Sierpe for us. Breakfast was delicious and included a vegan option. Highly recommend to anyone going to Drake Bay.

Most amazing view and surroundings. Super sweet people! We saw a toucan, many colibries and parrots. I never ever saw so many stars in my life. And you wake up from the sounds of the nature. Ask for the banana chippies. They were my favorite!

    Central location, comfortable room.

    Central location, comfortable room. The pool was really lovely to sit near and relax, cool off. Staff was exceptional and helpful in all manners. Receptionist helped me book all of my activities and was super accommodating. The restaurant staff were so friendly, and even remembered my name after I came a few times. Very convenient to have on site. It had everything I coud want and price was reasonable. I already want to go back and will book there again.

    It was very remote.

    It was very remote. We spent three nights there and enjoyed early active mornings and chill afternoons with an early dinner and bedtimes. There's not much to do at night which was fine by us. We loved watching the town wake up in the morning. We went diving at Cano Island and loved the turtles and all of the varieties of fish. The water was so clear when we went, it was one of the better diving experiences in Costa Rica so far!

    Fantastic stay.

    Fantastic stay. Exactly as described except wifi didn't work in our room, we had to go to the office/breakfast area to use it. The views from the room were spectacular overlooking Drake Bay. We had daily visits from capuchins, macaws, parrots, hummingbirds, etc The beds were comfortable as were the chairs and hammocks on the porch. Handrails going up the steep tire steps to the room would have been helpful. The owner went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was delicious and made to order.

    Great place to stay if you want to visit Corcovado national...

    Great place to stay if you want to visit Corcovado national park. Not only Corcovado is worthwhile but Drake Bay itself as well. I would recommend taking the boat from Sierpe to Drake Bay as it’s very convenient and the boat ride is extremely scenic!

    Very nice peaceful place, at the grounds of a friendly costarican family, right on the edge of the rainforest. Beautiful Ganadito beach is at walking distance. The cabin where we slept was new and fine.

    The flora and fauna of adjacent parks is amazing but you...

    The flora and fauna of adjacent parks is amazing but you must visit them with a guide for the appropriate access and to really appreciate what is there. Drake is a the ideal place from which to reach the parks. We travelled to Drake Bay by intercity bus from San Jose and connected with the ferry. The "wet landing" was a first for us - a genuine adventure where the ferry assistants wade your luggage to shore on their shoulders and the passengers just focus on getting themselves to shore. The ferry takes an hour or so through amazing mangroves. Make sure to tell your hotel to book you on the ferry to avoid misunderstanding -- there are only two ferries per day and you don't want to lose a day/night in Sierpe. The park is amazing --book a tour well in advance as daily entries are limited. Access to the park is by boat. Birds galore, several species of monkey including the mighty howler, tapirs, two species of ant eater, and many more creatures. We did the snorkeling tour too which was also amazing. We saw deep sea turtles, sharks, manta rays and a plethora of species of fish. Beautiful, pristine and rules about not interrupting wildlife. For example, we were watching a turtle and she started to rise for air and we all had to move back 4-6 metres and we had the joy of then watching her float on the surface for a while and just rock in the waves.     A very nice place with a beautiful view from the common space. The rooms are very well kept and very clean. The Cabinas Pura Vida are located like 15 min walking from the port, but the owner picked us up once we arrived there and then dropped us off while we were leaving Drake Bay. This location also means it is a bit further from the city noise. He was also very flexible with breakfast as we needed to catch the boat at 6, he prepared us breakfast at 5:20 in the morning.

    The team is amazing and they really go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They immediately responded to emails when we had questions or requests. Additionally they take care of the boat transfer, shuttle to and from the hotel, booking of tours. The rooms are simple yet nice and overall it is a great experience to stay here. There's also lots of wildlife on the hotel premises, which makes it even more exciting.

    Thanks to the personal of the hotel that helped us with all the details during our staying, the picked us up and dropped us off to the boat, and they also organized everything about the tours to Corcovado National park and to Isla del Caño. Also the personal from the restaurant, they were really nice, the waitress guy was so friendly every night for dinner, we really enjoyed it, we thank you very much to all.
