The city is quite compact, and you can easily explore the entire city center in a day. The more rural areas on the outskirts are less attractive, but I didn’t feel unsafe there. There are plenty of great bars and restaurants with live music in the evenings. Le Metalo was my favorite—both the food at the restaurant and the street food were excellent. The Municipal Market was a lovely spot, offering a variety of local souvenirs along with some random Chinese goods. The boutiques were similar—featuring a mix of local products and many Chinese-made items. The architecture is a blend of beautifully renovated historical buildings, modern constructions, dilapidated houses, and industrial structures. The people were fantastic. I had no trouble asking for photos or advice. It probably would have been easier to communicate in Kriolu, Portuguese, or French, but English worked in most basic situations.Guest review byMagdalenaPoland - 8.0

I am orginally from Mindelo so this is home away from home. My city is easily accessible by walking or car. People are friendly and the food is amazing. Also a big plus is that you have a small supermarket next to the entrance, and also a nice spot to have some breakfast and lunch. It's also pretty easy to walk to the city center of Mindelo. It's like a 15 min walk. Even at night we felt safe. Taxi is like 5 minutes and it never took that long to get one.
