I was expecting more people in Platres during the summer...
I was expecting more people in Platres during the summer month of may but unfortunately the place looked deserted. Very few restaurants were open to have lunch and dinner, and sometimes the quality was very avarage. Liked: the service, the food, the breakfast, the politeness of the people working there. Even though is renovated the feeling of the rooms is a bit outdated. The wc/shower room is very small The shower is very narrow and uncomfortable. Also there could be some arrangement for wardrobe. The price of the room is overestimated. Platres is one of my favourite mountain villages in Cyprus.
Platres is one of my favourite mountain villages in Cyprus. it has a lovely vibe and many restaurants and cafes to choose from. I recommend Pendeli Hotel for a luxurious stay or forest park if looking for a very budget friendly stay. Petit Palais is one of the oldest hotels in the square and is loved by locals and tourists. EnPlatron is one of my favourite Taverns offering great traditional dishes and live music on weekends. Kaledonia Tavern is also a favourite local tavern so make sure to give it a try Cleopatra Bistro is a favourite for modern dining and deserts and beverages. It was a really special, quiet wee place, with excellent access to all the trails in the Troodos hills. A 15 minute drive from kakopetria where there is more options for food and supermarkets; however, the eateries available in Platres were all found to be serving up wonderful local cuisine (their opening times are just a little hit and miss, so if you are not eating early, you may struggle).Guest review byMarcoUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Very quiet location, not ideal for people with limited...
Very quiet location, not ideal for people with limited mobility. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the village. Kalidonia Waterfall is a must see, its trail is not too steep but can get busy with walking groups. Not too far to Omodos which again is beautiful. Driving is a bit winding as you are in the Troodos but well worth it for the views at every turn, lots of places to pull into for the driver to appreciate.Guest review byValUnited Kingdom

The bedroom was comfortable and had everything we required. The bathroom was on the small side but was still more than adequate. The dining room was airy and the views fantastic. Breakfast was delicious, fresh and well prepared. The best thing about this hotel however, apart from it's location, is the friendliness of the staff. There's a bunch of cats on the resort who are fond of treats – luckily we had a supply of treats for the cats. The bathrooms of the cheaper rooms are a bit more simple, but everything was comfortable. The breakfast was the est i had on the entire island! Never saw such a big breakfast buffet.
