Berlin has character. It's one of the coolest cities in the world! Great places to eat, hang out with friends, walk & explore and of course it's the best party place! I really like the mix in Berlin.
I really like the mix in Berlin. It's clearly a working city, but there's plenty of touristy things to do. The history is obviously it's main draw, it's fascinating. There are some stunning buildings that we learnt were rebuilt following WWII and Soviet rule. Also some really ugly USSR style buildings which add an interesting contrast. We did a walking tour which was excellent - Discover Berlin Half-Day Walking Tour booked on Tripadvisor. Walid who took our tour was great, very knowledgeable and funny. If anyone is interested in the history of the 2nd World War then Berlin is certainly a must see. So many Spy novels and films over the last 50 years often use it as a backdrop.... I was last in Berlin 40 years ago when the DDR was still very much alive. I loved the museum's detailing that part of history. The value for money in Berlin is much greater than for example London or Paris. Beer and great value kebabs or kebaps plus great public transport and so whilst I tend not to like big cities I do love Berlin. Berlin is very clean and the air is much fresher than UK cities. The trams are frequent, clean and orderly. The people are well-mannered polite and respectful towards tourists. Berlin Central train station is a sight to behold. it is modern, immaculately clean and serves the trains and underground system.
