It was a very pleasant 2 nights stay at this lovely hotel for us as a coulpe. We went to visit the mountains in the area. It was just a short weekend getaway, we had a good time. The place has a nice charm to it and a big bonus is that they have a restaurant with delicious dinner and lovely service. The breakfast was very good, the accomodation excellent. Clean room, nice and quiet area, comfy bed. Thanks for a lovely weekend. We might come back with the boys.

Location of the hotel is exceptional. Free parking was available close to the hotel (hotel sent us a detailed explanation where to park). Room and bathroom were spacious. Breakfast rooms are big and plenty of nice tables to chose from. Staff was very friendly.

A wonderful and beautiful hotel! Lively yet calm. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was superb and gave a good start for the day. We had a beautiful room with a view to the castle. The whole experience was elegant yet down-to-earth. Loved it! And we could check in, check out and pay everything online in advance, which was very convenient and quick!

    Saint Cyriakus, the medieval church in Gernrode is...

    Saint Cyriakus, the medieval church in Gernrode is absolutely stunning and a 'must visit' location. Don't forget to have an afternoon coffee in the Froschkönig, a beautiful Jugendstill property opposite the church. For a fun moment, see the biggest cuckoo clock in the world which functions every 15 minutes, and its museum. Another museum to visit is the old school, dating from 1533! Amazingly, there is a regular train service by steam locomotive from Quedlingburg, via Gernrode, to various destinations. A wonderful experience. Besides, many touristic spots are within easy reach.

    Travelling on trains it is not easy to get to Gernrode, but...

    Travelling on trains it is not easy to get to Gernrode, but from Quedlingburg you can get a taxi at the taxi stand near the train station, if you wait long enough or get lucky. But, Gernrode is worth the effort for those with an interest in architectural history, the Church of St. Cyriakis was built 1,000 years ago and remains unchanged except for repairs, so provides one of the few unaltered standing examples of early Romanesque architecture in Germany. The area is also famous for its natural beauty and for the scenic railroad with trains pulled by historic steam locomotives. Hiking is a favorite activity for locals and visitors and there are many trails to follow, worth the effort to get there...
