Worms is a city of historical significance, severely battered by WW2. The cathedral is impressive, the role Worms played in European Medieval history left some traces, and the city prides itself in the references made to it in the Nibelungen-legend. There is a monument commemorating the trial against Marten Luther in 1520, and the nice river front has a Nibelungen sculpture. This is a good one-day or mid-day stop-over for tourist with a deep interest in German and European history. We are bike packers and were able to secure our bicycles safely in the basement storeroom. The weather was poor so we pretty much just stayed in and cooked our own meal for dinner (the supermarket is right across the street) and relaxed with some Netflix courted of the nice big TV.
