We loved Alcoy but that was mainly because we had a local...
We loved Alcoy but that was mainly because we had a local friend show us around and we coincided it with the Modernist Fair at the end of September. There are loads of stunning buildings and various places to eat and drink. It is quite steep in places which was fine for us but could be a challenge for others. Having said that, there are plenty of areas that are flat too. The surrounding area is beautiful so that too can be explored but we didn't have time to do much of that in our four days there, mainly because of the Modernist Fair activities taking up some of our time. Alcoy seems to be an interesting place.
Alcoy seems to be an interesting place. It is not huge, so it is easy to walk around. There are many cafes, bars and restaurants. However, we did find it difficult to find vegetarian options around the town, so we ended up having dinner at a shopping mall in a chain restaurant. A really tasy veggie burger though! The local scenery is stunning. I would recommend a drive to Font Roja just to appreciate the local lanscape and enjoy some walking routes.
