FAQs about hotels in Donostia-San Sebastián

Amazing Coastline and Historical Beauty

San Sebastian is a famous beach resort in the north of Spain with picturesque coastline, vibrant nightlife and amazing Basque gastronomy.

Playa de la Concha is one of the world’s most popular city beaches, ideal for watersports lovers. Rent a surfboard on Zurriola beach or just relax on a cosy lounge chair under your umbrella.

Established as the culinary capital of Spain, San Sebastian features a variety of bars and restaurants serving delicious pintxos (Basque-style tapas), fresh seafood and fine wine. According to Spanish tradition, you should have one tapa and a wine in one bar, then move on to the next bar.

The tree-covered hill standing just across the gulf is called Urgull and offers spectacular views over the bay and city. Situated at the bottom of it, Parte Vieja is the old part of the town where you can mix with the locals and visit some of the city’s most interesting historical attractions.

San Sebastian Airport is located 20 km east, so it's a short journey into the city itself. Booking.com offers a choice of accommodation ranging from luxury hotels to guest houses, apartments and budget hostels.

San Sebastian is a nice place to visit with a number of areas to explore and beaches for swimming and surfing. The tapas is very good in most places, however, your host will recommend the best places for you. I recommend lunch at one of the restaurants on the beach, they are reasonably priced and have good food. Try the Sangria if they have it. It is a very difficult place to drive around and you will probably get lost more than once.

    Lovely visit to San Sebastian.

Lovely visit to San Sebastian. We travelled here after 3 days in Bilbao. Immediately we felt a different 'feel' to the place - maybe it was the beaches that gave it a more relaxed feel. Easy city to get around. We walked everywhere. We stayed for 5 nights and with that time were able to do a day trip to neighouring towns which was lovely. However if you're stuck for time you could visit in 3 - 4 nights. We loveed both La Concha and the Surfing beach. Gros neighbourhood was lovely to stroll around with a great range of bars and restaurants. Old Town was nice too but we prefer local neighbourhoods.

San Sebastian offers a city break with everything.

San Sebastian offers a city break with everything. Wonderful Basque culture, beautiful architecture, wonderful local food and wine, great shopping and access to beautiful beaches. Would recommend trying Pintxos and Txakoli and seeing more of the city with Go local ebike tours.

Seemed like a city break with 3 lovely beaches to pick from when the weather was nice which is not everyday. great architecture on the buildings too. Pintoxs cost from 3.5 euro the same as a glass of wine. You can go to other nearby towns from here on the local bus.

This is a lovely place with lots of walking and eating.

This is a lovely place with lots of walking and eating. The food was reasonably to go on its own. The main beach is spectacular and rated as one of the best in the world. We went up both hills at either end of the bay (one via funicular). Great views. We did not get the best weather but that did not stop us having a great time

We loved the food although we should have paced ourselves better! Lovely town and good connections to other places. Although you suggest that there are great activities for 'young couples like you' we are in our seventies but yes it was good. We mainly walked other than to get to the more remote restaurants. The walking tour is really worth doing because of the history of the place. Donostia is a Basque city and special. Lots of good places to eat - some not the places everyone goes to and which are overcrowded. Transport links are good and you can also book tours. We got to Bilbao easily and next time will vist some of the local small towns.

Super location with amazing views of the cathedral. The roof terrace was a bonus for us to have a glass of wine in the evening before heading out to dinner. The room was spacious and super clean. We ate at the Hotel restaurant in the evenings because the town was crazy busy. The breakfasts were fantastic and the coffee was one of the best we have had in Spain. The staff were super friendly. Thankyou.

The location is the best part and also the short walk to the beach/ sea. The hotel is located near the marina but in the old town. In the old town is all the best pintxos places and the classic cheese cake, including small boutique shops. 10 minutes walk to the Cathedral and the new area with shopping stores. The check-in went great and quick. Good air conditioning and helpful staff

I must say it’s the best hotel I experienced in Spain of the last 13 days in different 5 cities. Living here just feel lived in a painting. The staff are warm nice and gentle. They write down every restaurant they recommend for us by hand. I will a come back to San Sebastián for villa soro again.
