Costa Dorada Thrills and Spills

Like all Costa Dorada resorts, Salou has a fantastic beach and fun watersports. But it’s the wide, palm-lined promenade that really makes it stand out. Boutiques and exclusive restaurants line its western end, while in the east the bay curves to a point where a sculpture leans out to sea. Head there for lovely views of the sandy beach and distant mountains.

Further round the coast towards Cap Salou the beach becomes rocky coves, whilst inland is PortAventura, Spain’s most visited theme park. This huge complex includes rides and rollercoasters in themed zones, and a waterpark with slides, flumes and pools galore. Also here is Lumine, a golf club boasting 2 courses designed by Greg Norman.

Next door is Port Halley shopping centre which also has a 3D cinema and bowling alley. The best shopping in Salou though is in the old town, where designer shops stay open until late.

Other Salou attractions include the dancing Font Illuminosa fountains, Bosc Aventura’s high ropes, and Aquopolis - a great waterpark for younger children. Although the town has plenty of arcades, clubs and bars, peace and quiet can be found.

Reus Airport is the nearest and it’s around 20 minutes’ drive from there to the apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Salou bookable on Booking.com.

    When selecting your beach vacation in Spain, this is the place! Salou is the perfect town for all family members. The beaches are beautiful and very clean. For the kids there is a theme park in nearby PortAventura! For the adults, Salou is right next to the Priorat Region; one of the two premier wine regions of Spain. Booking.com has several very affordable wine tasting excursions that can be booked with hotel pickup from Salou.

    lovely place to visit for families felt very safe there

    lovely place to visit for families felt very safe there We ate in lots of different restaurants also lovely little places down by the beach at night time to have a drink. We were able to get around -no bother I wish i had got more info about Bus Plana as it seems to be the way to get around for further destinations but maybe next time! We visited the Caribe water park, ferrari land and also rented bikes and cycled to Cambrils which has a bike land all the way and is a lovely short cycle. We also rented a car for the day to drive to Barcelona as it was cheaper and quicker than the bus

    Salou is overrated.

    Salou is overrated. The beach is fine in some parts, but there were cigarette butts in the sand. It's not the city's fault, but the lack of civility on the part of some users. The city should be cleaner, with fewer souvenir shops. Could have better restaurants and bars. They could improve the quality of the services offered.

    Very good location - close to the beach and city centre. Clean and spacious room with a beautiful sea view. The only downside was that the water was not included in the meals, had to pay extra every time even though the served water was from the tap.

    We love Salou it has so much to offer for my kids who love...

    We love Salou it has so much to offer for my kids who love them parks and water parks. Our hotel was close to the beach, close to PortAventura and close to the water parks. There’s also a good selection of shops and restaurants. You are also close to Barcelona and in previous years we would venture there but have been put off by the anti tourist protests so won’t be going there.

    Salou is a great place to visit with lots of activities to do I highly recommend going to the House of Illusion show incredible for all age groups. You have the lovely beach, lots of water activities quad safari and beautiful restaurants.

    The hotel is lovely, very clean, the rooms are modern and beds comfortable, the bathrooms are spacious as are the balcony’s. The pool area is nice, lots of sunbeds are we were able to get beds at any time of the day. The best thing about the hotel was its close proximity to everything. It’s a 5 to 10 minute stroll into the centre of salou but the hotel is surrounded by shops, supermarkets, bars, restaurants even a little night market where locals sell beautiful handcrafted items.

    Apartment was spotlessly cleaned. Housekeeper on the 4th floor Rumi was very nice lady. Need to say all the staff was nice and helpful. 3 great beaches just steps away and centre is just few minutes walk. The big plus is a quiet area because Salou is very busy. The bus stop to Reus airport close to hotel for 3,20 euros, no need taxi. Definitely best place in Spain for us and would like to return.

    Check in inst till 3pm after arriving with young children even though room ready...hotel far 2 busy cant get sun loungers or any room at pool it never empties...all activities are in Spanish dont cater for anyone else which is poor...severe language barrier...staff at reception aren't very welcoming and not interested in customer service at all...will be back to salou but not this hotel

    Everything necessary for a family with a baby (10 months). Supermarket next door and in walk distance a pharmacy, supermarket, some restaurants and a small beach. 10 minute drive to Salou which is great when you want to go to a bigger beach with a lot of fun shops. Hotel quietly located.
