We stayed in Espoo for one night,then stayed four in Helsinki. It was the best way of enjoying the snow (being Irish it is a novelty )and enjoying the peaceful forest surrounding the hotel. It was a great start to our christmas break before going into the city. It was magical and I did a morning hike around the grounds of the hotel. I liked walking near the sea (the road noise was a bit annoying though), but the view is perfect. Food in the restaurant was delicious and not super expensive. I also liked the swimming pool with sea view (I had a problem with towels, couldn't find them in the changing room and didn't bring my own).
