Beaune is the heart of France's beautiful, wine-centric Burgundy region. It's a good base for exploring the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, and has lots of restaurants, tasting rooms and wine shops. If you don't want to rent a car, you can rent bikes or walk to just about everything in town. We had an exceptional dinner at Soul Kitchen (make a reservation; there are only 12 seats) and also at La Ciboulette. Breakfast was good, as we're the morning staff. When I asked for a map of Beaune on arrival, I was directed to a rack of tourist leaflets, none of which were helpful!. The following morning when I asked for a map of Beaune, I was given one immediately by a very pleasant receptionist. I could not get an Internet connection in my room.
