Unexpected. And Wonderful. This is a very unique place to stay. The hotel itself is in a building from the 1500’s and is part of an estate that the owner has been meticulously refurbishing. He and his wife are both very interesting people. They also have a wonderful Burnese Mountain dog. The building/hotel owner is an admitted enthusiast of WWII history. During war the building served as the headquarters for a German general and, after D-Day, for General James Lawton Collins. Part of the building now houses a very unique military museum (https://www.tripadvisor.ie/Attraction_Review-g608795-d25576850-Reviews-D_DAY_Collins_Museum-Sainte_Mere_Eglise_Manche_Basse_Normandie_Normandy.html). The bedrooms have all been recently decorated and are beautiful. Each room is named after a WWII general (Eisenhower, Bradley, Collins, etc.) Breakfast was terrific.

The property is beautiful in well maintained grounds. Our room was big and very comfortable. The hosts are lovely! Very friendly and did a wonderful breakfast. The property is incredibly clean and we felt welcome.

Very nice and cozy accomodation in an old farm building. Excellent and quiet location near Utah Beach and D-Day Experience. Clean, comfortable room. Very friendly and nice host who made sure that we are comfortable. Very good country breakfast.

This hotel/B&B was awesome. It is WWII-themed, which makes sense because of its location. Even though the property is old, the rooms are new and spotless. The host welcomed us and was very friendly. The breakfast was superb, and it was served in a room full of WWII memorabilia found in the property and its surroundings. I definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice combination of history and nature.

Excellent location to explore Normandy and D-day beaches. Beautiful cottage on working equestrian farm and was even given a tour of the farm and stables. Staff very helpful and friendly. Accommodation like something out of a movie. Couldn't praise it more.

La Baumee, also known as 'The Rabbit Farm' is a unique experience and one we want to return to. We stayed 5 nights in the Chambres d'Hote which is a charming stone building on one side of the farm's courtyard. The other 3 sides comprised the gite and museum, the bar and hosts' rooms above and finally the main house. The grounds are laid to lawn and meadows with the farm set back from the road and discreetly hidden by the hedgerows of the bocage. The whole of the Farm has been renovated by the owners Emmanuelle and Mathieu, and the impression given is of great care and style. Our room was very large with an extremely comfortable and modern superking bed, lounge area, terrace and a unique dressing table/ writing desk. The room has a superb, powerful walk in shower and is tiled throughout with mellow travertine tiles that match the stonework walls. Very good air conditioning too, much needed on days that reached 26C. Breakfast is taken in the bar, across the gravel laid farmyard, and, as is the case across the complex, the theme is retro '44 with modern seating and WWII memorabilia and music. A good continental breakfast with fresh fruit, choice of yoghurts and pastries and limitless hot drinks. A special mention for the dark, dark, hot chocolate! What makes La Baumee unique is it's private museum, open to guests and available to the public to view by appointment. The museum is appropriately located at La Baumee which served as a Command Post and Aid Station for the airborne groups on D Day. The sense of history from being on the same site as the photographed soldiers prepares you for the wonderful museum. Of all the displays seen during our stay, the museum at La Baumee will stay with us longer as it connected us more thoroughly to the lives and experiences of the troops who liberated Europe. Emmanuelle and Mathieu have built with friends and with care a living memorial, a place to reflect on and enjoy our fleeting lives.

Maison du Mont is fantastic chambre d'hote - being the main house of a former farm it is a beautiful villa with freshly painted lovely rooms, a nice breakfastroom, a grand garden AND a fantastic view over the Marais swamps. Combined with the warm welcome by Mme Corine and her good coffee Maison du Mont is most certainly a place I want to come back to, to stay a few more nights, to go on trips into the villages and nature of Normandy. Also perfect for a one night stop on your drive to the South of France. Plenty of room to park your caravan and car on the private property.

    the room and bathroom were very pleasant. the room was quiet and the restaurant delightful. On cycling through town we had booked a table for dinner but decided that the hotel would be a far better option. kindly your staff telephoned the restaurant that we had booked and cancelled our table, thus ensuring we could rest easily knowing we had done the right thing. we found your cycle storage room most agreeable and comforting knowing the bike was secure. we shall return; perhaps not for a couple of years, but we will be back.

    If you're looking for a comfortable apartment in a beautiful town in Normandy, then you're in the right place. The apartment has everything you need to feel at home. It's a great starting point for visiting various historical museums, which truly impressed us. The apartment is cozy and well-equipped. I definitely recommend it! Thank you to the hosts

    Superb location in centre of Carentan. Problem is nothing is open and it's a ghost town after 8pm. It's a no frills room but perfect for me having cycled the whole day to get here. Just the 1 restaurant open in the town at 8pm but that's all I needed. Slept like a log.
