The Abbey, although largely a ruin is nonetheless remarkable and well worth a special trip to this small, historic town which is easy to walk around and has a lot of charm. The history is well explained in English as well as French and gives a good impression of the Abbey’s great past. Terrific small town in Burgundy with a good selection of restaurants and amenities. I did not have time to properly explore some of the sights and the heritage of the town as my stay was en-route to my final destination. It is the only hotel right in the Cluny Abbey ruins and on the main square. It is a lovely simple hotel with comfortable but not fancy rooms and a gorgeous breakfast room. The proprietors are wonderful and attentive. There is a lounge with interesting historical pictures and models about the abbey and hotel. It is not far to any touristic attraction and very closa to a multiple of restaurants. The place is renovated with great taste and completely with respecting the ancient historical building.
