    I’ve visited Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie many times over the...

    I’ve visited Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie many times over the last 20-odd years but never stayed here until now. It was a superb choice: close to the cycle route, 15 mins from three excellent bakeries and one minute from the promenade. There’s a good choice of restaurants, ice cream parlours, kiosks and bars within 5-6 minutes’ walk and the two towns just a bit further in the other direction. I would recommend the area to anyone: there are activities for the whole family, for beach fans or people looking for cultural days out. It’s worth going just for the food but the scenery is spectacular with some fantastic sunsets. The weather is changeable but all you need is decent clothing. Top tip: visit Boulangerie Bleue in Saint Gilles for superb bread and some interesting desserts!

    The room was very comfortable and the bed provided the best night's sleep we had that week. The staff were helpful and allowed us to check in early. We were travelling by bicycle so we needed somewhere secure to lock them which they were able to provide. There is a swimming pool although we didn't use it, preferring the sea. The location was excellent, just out of the busy area but withing a few minutes walk of restaurants and bars.

    Very well situated hotel, with a direct view on the foreshore and the entrance to the port. Efficient and friendly reception staff. Nice looking breakfast, although we didn’t eat.
