Although not used during our stay there is a swimming pool on site. Also, good walking and a variety of sites above the town to offer that sort of holiday. For an outdoor holiday in all guises, it wd be worth a thorough exploration of the area. La Bourboule was nice in the evening with the restaurant lights on and the snow on the ground. Galapagos restaurant was nice and the food was good. The local bakers had nice cakes and coffee. A lovely easy town, ideal for families. Some of the big old hotels from previous generations are closed forever, some in ruins, and yes Mont-Dore is also good with more restaurant choices but MD is a bit crammed, lots busier.La Bourboule has more space and has easy free parking everywhere. Loved it.... and the tourist info people are excellent Cafe Francais is one of a row of bars/ restaurants and is spot on. They kept some food warm for us; when we arrived, the owner (?) set a little table for us and served us a delicious 3 course vegetarian meal, chatting good-humouredly all the time.
