Known as ‘The Pearl of France’, the city of Menton is located on the French Riviera near the Italian border. Overlooking the blue Mediterranean waters, this destination has colourful houses with red roofs, golden beaches and a harbour with fishing boats and yachts.
Built by the architect Laurent Lavagna, the 17th century Basilica of Saint-Michel-Archange is a historic Baroque-style church with an imposing belltower. We had a wonderful stay, we took a food tour of the old town which was great and be sure to walk the font by the beach towards Italy where there are hidden bars and restaunts. Being near the railway station was a big bonus if you want to travel out to the area, especially after a day out it was good to have a short walk back. The old town, although small, was interesting to visit. Menton is really a 2 day place and best for a base to get out and about. I would suggest that if you go for "just a drink" in one of the open air restaurants you ask the price, as I paid Euro 6 in some places and in one place Euro 12 which was extortionate for a small glass of wine....if you don't ask the price, it leads to over charging. Menton is beautiful.
Menton is beautiful. A perfect stop along a fab coastline of towns and villages both in France and over the border in Italy. The town itself is buzzing with cafes, shops and restaurants. The old world charm of the town remains and it isn't over- commercialised. Beaches are lovely, with warm, clear water, mind the stony sand though. The area felt unspolit. An ideal spot to base yourself to travel around the regions, close to Nice airport, Cannes, Antibes, Monaco and Italy. Public transport was fine, trains and Ubers, local buses were infrequent. We loved The New Bar on the pier, a basic pub with music and friendly staff. Menton is hilly, especially around Menton Garavan (port area) so avoid if you've mobility issues or young children, better to locate in the town itself. Recommend a sunrise swim, beautiful to see the sun rise and reach the Basicilica St Michael, a must visit tourist site.Guest review bymaeveIreland

We had previously stayed in Menton but not at this hotel. We loved it. Wonderful, friendly staff. The cleaning lady was fantastic and so lovely. One of the cleanest hotels we have stayed in. Breakfast was great. Good options. Better than expected. Super little bar. Good outdoor space. Nice size balcony facing the mountains. Of course, the best part is how close it is to the sea. I stayed in a room with a view of the sea and it was really lovely to have a small balcony.
