Lovely beaches and lots of history. Numerous places of interest to visit and plenty of friendly restaurants serving wonderful local and international food. Embrace the culture and you're sure to have a wonderful time. Ouistreham is a ferry port - it is a small town, but a useful starting point for visiting attractions in the surrounding area. The Normandy landings beaches and sites that have associations with William the Conqueror are all easily reached from here. Hotel was adequate, but basic. Had aircon though. 2.5/5 Handy for just off the ferry, but don't expect fancy. Also, if you use booking.com, read the emails carefully, it's a complicated registration system if the staff aren't around. We like Ouistreham very much.
We like Ouistreham very much. The old town and church are well worth visiting and the beautiful memorials on the beach are very moving. We are not young (!) but enjoyed the sea air and were able to park our car easily for a gentle walk through the trees to the beach. Lovely. Nice town but really just for a stopover for the ferry which is why I stay there several times a year. Restaurants around the port can be problematic as they are mostly aimed at British tourists providing moules et frites for the adults and burgers for the youngsters and most doing pizzas as well. Difficult to get decent French cuisine there. If you go a bit further into the town proper there is a wider range with some French cuisine but also more pizzas. There are nice beaches around bug I have never used them. There is also the historical element relating to D day beaches which is well worth a look.Guest review byChrisUnited Kingdom
