We visited Pierrefonds because my daughters loved the show...
We visited Pierrefonds because my daughters loved the show Merlin, but found the castle to be so much more than just the set of a TV show. I had read blogs and watch videos about others visiting the castle which mentioned that the town was not much of anything, but we found in to be charming. We would have eaten dinner in the town the night before we visited the castle instead of just grabbing something on the way, but because of the negative feedback I didn't know about the nice looking restaurants on the banks of a small lake.Guest review byProf de françaisUnited States - 10.0

Overall, the hotel is traditional and a little tired but still comfortable, the staff are excellent. The evening meal was served on the terrace across the road in a nice relaxed atmosphere although the steak was disappointing. The starters were both good as was the sweet course. Seriously, private parking with gates, garden and the most amazing views of Pierrefonds Chateau. Super comfy beds and lots of space for a family. The property is immaculate inside, you've got everything you need to cook yourselves. A lovely village an easy walk from the property and a good base to explore. We went to Belgium for the afternoon, why not? A beautifully presented accommodation, if I had the money I'd buy it as a holiday home without question. Clean toilets and shower, normally shared with other people. Beds were good, we slept well. Breakfast was sufficient and brought to the tent. we enjoyed our stay and loved the beautiful 'camping-like' setup.
