Absolutely wonderful room - I had a garden room which was exceptional in all facilities and could view the open area and the stars -also a surprised added bonus of seeing tiny bats from nearby trees swooping in to find food was almost a Attenborough film clip - and so to bed which was so comfortable I didnt want to get up .

Food quality was great. Bit more variety on the evening meals would help for those staying longer than 4 days but that is being picky. Fantastic breakfast - if there is something you want but cannot find on the buffet then ask the chefs - all very helpful. The spa was amazing and great for a rainy day. Location is perfect for walks and local communities. Room was cozy and comfortable. For 6 days we could have done with booking a bigger room - it is worth checking the options for longer stays - but the bed was super comfy and we wish we'd bought the robes.

There is plenty to see in Ambleside with an excellent range of shops and places to eat. There was lots of live music over the weekend. We saw a fantastic jazz band at Zeffireli's. Our biggest disappointment was Hill Top - make sure you book in advance otherwise they won't let you park in the carpark and visit the property.

Ambleside is a lovely place which I have been many of times.

Ambleside is a lovely place which I have been many of times. It’s more beautiful in the winter months as I feel it’s an escape from living next to the beach. The snow capped mountains, the feel of the cold when you step into somewhere with a fire feels warm and welcoming.

The cottage was in a good location to visit other parts of the Lake District. Narrow roads but not too busy. We ate in the Cottage in the evening but visited the local pub, just a short walk away, for a pre-dinner drink. We bought some wonderful local bacon from the shop. The Shop was surprisingly well stocked. The Cottage is not in Ambleside which was a good thing as there was a Beer Festival the whole weekend we were there and Town was packed. The Cottage is in a perfect location and great for walkers.

There’s so much to do in Ambleside, and I think I’ll definitely come again in another season. You can enjoy poetic walks, explore local heritage sites, or even catch a movie or a play. For the sporty ones, there’s hiking, biking, water sports, and even rock climbing. During my stay, there were a few rainy days and even Storm Amy, but none of that changed the beauty of the Lake District. I’ll surely be back — again and again.

Ambleside is a great base for outdoor activity in the Lake District with good public transport connections, plenty of shops (including specialist gear shops) and restaurants, cafes and pubs. There are also opportunities for visiting National Trust sites, local beauty spots and boat trips on Windermere.

Ambleside Salutation Hotel was recommended by a friend. Such a beautiful hotel, fantastic location, close to many great bars, restaurants and cafes. Plenty of onsite parking. Staff were all very friendly. We received a complimentary upgrade on our standard room to a suite, we stayed in Olive Mews 2 - it definitely had the wow factor! Huge room with lovely lounge seating area, super kingsize bed and a fantastic bathroom with 2 person jacuzzi/spa bath, steam room and sauna!! We will definitely return!

Perfectly placed with parking permits. Just a short walk to the centre of Ambleside. Pubs, restaurants, and takeaways close by. Kitchen well stocked. Comfortable beds. Communication was brilliant from booking to coming home. Not a cottage for people with walking difficulties as the bathroom is on the top floor, but that's the design. Highly recommend this cottage! We would definitely book again.

Very nice modern property in the heart of Ambleside. Dedicated parking right outside the door. We came in the winter but I imagine the parking space is worth its weight in gold in the summer. Comfortable and warm. Dog friendly with a great park for walking them 2 minutes away. Owners communicated quickly when we needed them. Full cooking facilities should you desire. Looks better than the photos.
