Beautiful location on the loch side with small outdoor terrace, and across from the oldest brewery on Skye. Rooms in a separate building from the pub - very comfortable room with all facilities needed. Quiet. Pub restaurant was good - fast service , good menu and bonus of live music session of traditional Scottish music. Couldn' be better. parking also right opposite in small car park.

Hotel was not busy when I was there, so got an complimentary upgrade to the most beautiful room with an astonishing view of the water and all the way to the Isle of Skye. Loved everything about the room, bed was comfortable, chairs to watch the sunset were excellently placed right at the windows. Breakfast was great, good options and big portions. Also enjoyed the food in the pub, can only recommend!

We checked in so late due to some road repair works around 11 pm, yet everything was perfectly arranged at the reception with directions to go to the room and wifi password. Rooms had a Victorian look, the beds were cozy, room heaters were working, We were late for breakfast, the staffs were kind enough to arrange the basic stuffs. Overall a very warm feeling on a long road trip

This Highland haven was a bijou. Nestled on a Croft, it provided a welcome break from the camper van. It was so comfortable and the thoughtful owners had covered all bases. There was even ice for my G&T ready in the freezer box. The views were truly stunning and the welcome warm. I would not hesitate to recommend the Shepherd’s hut to travellers - we just wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back.

Aultbea is at the start of a peninsula which stretches for about 5 miles and has beautiful views across Loch Ewe to the peninsula on the other side from Poolewe. The scenery is spectacular in every direction. On clear days you can see the mountains of Skye, Torridon and the outline of the Outer Hebrides, as well as other mountains in the distance.

Altbea is a tiny fishing village on the shore of Loch Ewe where the Arctic Convoys set sail with aid for Russia during WW2. There is a fascinating museum dedicated to the Arctic Convoys which is a must-see. There is also a Wartime Trail which takes you on a journey round the local area and highlights all the significant wartime sites. It is a beautiful area to visit and is steeped in history.

Aultbea is a stunning area.

Aultbea is a stunning area. We were blessed with the weather and the views over the mountains and the lochs amazing. It could be a place for piece and quiet or use centrally for visiting the local area. There is a local little shop for supplies. The hotel was closed for refurbishment but we found a little cafe Oran na Mara up the road just brilliant.

Cartmel was in an excellent location around the corner from the Arctic Convoy Museum which we had travelled to see. The room was clean and comfortable. We were pleased to be able to have an evening meal although there was no option to have a dessert. Meals were taken at the breakfast bar in the room and delivered on a trolley which was super safe although I personally prefer to be in a dining room. We had a cooked breakfast with bread and butter but there were no cereals, juice, fruit or toast. Friendly hosts. If the weather had been better we would have driven completely around Loch Ewe and aprreciated even more the part it played in WWII

Truly great cottage in a stunning area. The drive to Aultbea is amazing, and then you find this cottage, where everything is how you want it. Spacious, private, big terrace and big garden, very comfortable beds, and a great eye for detail. Kitchen equipment is of good quality, there was an extra hdmi-cable, basics for cooking and cleaning are there (washing powder, olive oil, pepper and salt), etc, etc. In the evening, there might be deer roaming around your garden :-)

Beautiful little house in a quiet seaside village. Cute little garden to have some crackers and dip watching the waves. Local hotel/pub was a delight. If you stop by the hotel, ask if you can meet Mojo.
