If you like Downton Abbey, the TV program and the characters you have to go to Bampton. A very quaint village where the outdoor scenes were filmed. The twin room was spacious and spotlessly clean, the fixtures and fittings were of a very high standard. The bed was so comfy with plenty of pillows and a lovely throw for the colder nights. The hotel states no parking on the details but over the 3 nights we were there we never had any problems parking just outside the hotel on the main streets, always within view of our window. The whole hotel was very tastefully decorated, ours was a really comfortable room and the food was very good. The Tavern is obviously very popular, and breakfast was a very busy time, but we were well looked after,despite having to wait a little while. We could relax . I would rate this property highly with the cost balanced with the experience, The hotel is in a beautiful part of Oxford. The staff were friendly & helpful. Check in & out was quick and easy. Our room was spotless and comfortable. The hotel is on the main road in the village but the speed limit is very low so there was little to no noise on the street.
