The road (4 miles) to Bampton from Shap is extremely narrow...
The road (4 miles) to Bampton from Shap is extremely narrow with few passing places here and there and has to be driven with great care because you can meet buses, lorries and farm vehicles. The area is quiet, accessed by narrow lanes all worth exploring . The hamlet of Bampton sold the cheapest petroleum for miles. Locals were delightful. Be prepared to travel for 30-50 minutes to reach other key locations in The Lakes.Guest review byGeorgeUnited Kingdom - 10.0
If like me you are not a seasoned walker take the lower walk...
If like me you are not a seasoned walker take the lower walk at the bottom of the reservoir which snakes around a peninsula and gives unbelievable views. Eat dinner at the Hotel during your stay the food and services are top quality.
