The town/high street is suffering like so many other small towns, empty shops, lack of restaurants etc. Good if all you are looking for is coffee/lunch, but lacking options for evening. WE did not actually visit Budleigh, but used their Lime Kiln...
WE did not actually visit Budleigh, but used their Lime Kiln Car Park to visit the magnificent bird sanctuary on the Otterton salt marshes. the area has ahd millions spent upon it wth 2 new bridges, miles of walking routes and thousands of new trees planted. A quiet and lovely little corner of Devon. There was a really nice esplanade and an extended walk along the beach to the wetlands behind. Unfortunately it was at low tide so we didn't see any water fowl except for a swan. We have stayed here 3 times and just love the continuity. My sister and I share the twin room which is just perfect for us. We love the area with a bus stop outside the property or an easy walk down to the village. Budleigh Salterton is charming with its pubs and shops right on the seaside.
