The room is upscale modern, breakfast is fancy with Spanish cheeses and fruit and little welsh cakes. but price was reasonable, cheaper for example then a much less upscale room in Bath. location right near castle and pedestrian mall. good place to eat nearby is Lezzet, two people ate well for 30 pounds. Turkish food. The breakfast at Parador 44 was quite good. someone left their Netflix account logged in so I got free Netflix :) watched Michael Jordan documentary series, the rest of Netflix is very low IQ and pointless. but that documentary is good, Jordan is a winner and you can learn from him. watch it and learn.

We loved this off-the-beaten-path pub and small B&B (just three rooms; book early if this appeals), In the heart of an a rural village known for iron and slate mining, this village is adorable and nestled in the outskirts of Cardiff. We found the staff friendly, particularly Adam and the owners took much pride in their establishment. The rooms were well-equipped, quiet, comfortable. Like old world pub style, we chatted with other patrons as though old friends. Would have stayed more nights if our travels allowed. Pub food and breakfast were delicious and artfully presented.

Everything. The hotel was brand new, there were hangers for the towels and clothes, the room is well lit, the staff provided a second luggage rack, which was so nice. The bathroom was brand new, with a glorius walk in shower, plenty of water, very comfy bed, we had a lovely night and waking up. Breakfast was fine.

FAQs about hotels in Cardiff

The Pride of Wales

Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.

Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.

From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Center, shopping in Cardiff is fantastic. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants for a short rest or meal. Those by Cardiff Bay have particularly pleasant views.

Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Center. Another year 2,000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and soccer matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.

Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city center.

Wasn’t our first time in Cardiff so only there 1 night. But boy, did it feel like a full-blown holiday, with a castle, lovely walking streets, much better restaurants than I expected, cool museums, friendly locals. World’s first arcades. And loads of old buildings. Oh, also waterfront, rugby stadium and Dr Who spots all around … great family trip or for romantic couples. Try Pasture restaurant for dinner, and Corner Coffee for breakfast

Cardiff is a bright and interesting city, ideal for a short break. Whilst it may not have the beauty of cities such as York or Bath, there's lots to do and see. I especially enjoyed my tour of the Millennium (now Principality) stadium, in the city centre. The Cardiff Bay area is also well worth visiting. There are lots of nice restaurants and most places of interest are within walkable distance.

Easy to walk round sights. Castle, markets and arcades. Cardiff Arms very central. Lots of options for eating, from chains to independent. Fair walk from railway station to Bay (and not the nicest areas) but bus or trains available. Friendly locals. Clean city. Barry Island beautiful and worth visiting.

Wasn’t very impressed with the breakfast

Wasn’t very impressed with the breakfast Bread rolls were stale Food wasn’t replaced often enough No bacon. Fried eggs were a mess looked as if they were thrown in the air then shoved on a tray and over cooked Man on desk was on his mobile the whole time we were there about 40 mins Wasn’t facing customers only showed one or two to their tables I thought this was rude

As I only live in Newport

As I only live in Newport I already knew what to expect from the Capital We had a one night stay in the Royal hotel as we were going to a concert (simply Red) we had food at Miller and Carter but there are plenty of restaurants to eat at We stayed on the Sunday night the day of the Cardiff half marathon so very busy. Like most city’s parking is a bit of a nightmare best advice if possible take the train into the city as the station is in the heart of the capital and only a short walk to all the shops restaurants and sporting venues.
