Nearby Grosvenor Park has remains of a stone Roman amphitheatre, thought to have been built on the world’s largest wooden amphitheatre at the time. In the west is Chester Racecourse and nearby are the medieval castle remains. More medieval buildings line the cobbled city centre streets.
