Fort William is shadowed by Great Britain’s highest peak, Ben Nevis, and lies on the shores of pretty Loch Linnhe. The Scottish Highland’s 2nd biggest city attracts hordes of hikers, climbers and mountain bikers, enhancing its self-proclaimed reputation as the ‘outdoor capital of Scotland’.

Fort William is a lovely little town with a beautiful Loch, it is a bit touristy for my liking but there are so many wonderful things to do in or near by that it is well worth a stay here. The museum in the town is a treat, Inverlochy castle is a little treasure. The Nevis range cable car is a must, the views at the top are breathtaking and not to be missed. Also nearby is The Glenfinnan monument & viaduct, again absolutely beautiful views & an absolute must. There is more but we had a limited time.Guest review byRuth - 10

A friendly place. The museum is great and the old fellow who greets you was lovely, and informative. The shops were good and interesting. The Volunteer pub was brilliant. Cozy Cafe was lovely. The main reason for our visit to Fort William was a first class ride on "The Jacobite" steam train from Fort William to Mallaig, which came for three people - one adult, two kids - at a 260 pounds price tag. Only had a day there but went on a boat trip in the morning. Nice little shopping centre and the church was worth a visit. Lots of shops, pubs and eating places. The hotel is located right in the charming pedestrian zone, which makes it very convenient for exploring the town on foot.
