Melody and Graeme run a charming, rustic farm house B&B with all the modern amenities. Our room had a living room area with TV, a large bedroom and large bathroom with shower. (The bathroom included a bathroom magnifying mirror which is important for those of us with poorer eyesight!. ) We arrived just before Storm Babet hit and we unfortunately lost local power overnight until mid-morning. Melody and Graeme did their upmost to ensure we were comfortable and still delivered hot water for the shower and their wonderful English breakfast under circumstances out of their control. We plan to visit again when we are next in the area. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Leanne and Ian

Stayed at this great spot while walking the Coast To Coast walk. Hotel owner David offers an excellent property at a great value and is especially helpful to any hikers in the area. Wonderful, wonderful dinner in the evening, and their great breakfast service starts at 7 AM. They offer a shuttle pick up from the trail and transport to the hotel, then return in the morning. Take away lunches as well for hikers. Friendly, enthusiastic staff. The best stay of any of the nights on the beautiful Coast To Coast walk. Thank you, David for a wonderful experience.

Gt. Ayton was my childhood home for many years and this was a visit to see how it has changed over the last 40 years. Thankfully it has not. It is still the same beautiful picturesque village that it has always been.

There are many places to have coffee and cake and to eat. We tried quite a few and they were great. For example - The Velveteen Rabbit, The Poor House, Fletcher’s Farm and Whinstone View Bistro. We climbed Roseberry Topping which can be accessed from the village. It’s an easy journey to the coast - we had a great walk along the cliffs at Saltburn

Great village with a couple of good pubs and a convenient supermarket. There is a train station in the village where you can catch a train to Whitby. We walked up to Roseberry Topping which has fantastic views - and we managed to walk from the village so didnt need to worry about finding a parking space. There are footpath walks to Stokesley which goes past the G&T rooms - great for a coffee and cake.

Great Ayton is a beautiful village, on the edge of the North York moors with easy access to Teesside and the coast, with lots of stone cottages flanking the river Leven which runs through its heart. It has a 12th century Norman church, a Captain Cook Museum because the navigator lived and went to school here, a renowned ice cream shop and butchers famous for its pies as well as an excellent fish and chip shop, three pubs and some delightful cafes.
