Lampeter is a good centre for visiting provided you have a car. The Cardiganshire coast is not far and has some spectacular cliff-top walking between New Quay and Llangranog. The Cambrian hills run close by to the east. And there is Strata Florida Abbey ruins, Tregaron Bog for bird watchers and Devils Bridge for steam train enthusiasts, all within a 40 minute drive The town itself has seen better days. The fact that St David’s Trinity College campus is there cannot compensate for the loss of its position as the area’s main livestock market and the town has clearly declined economically. Lampeter is a small town but with a variety of shops.
Lampeter is a small town but with a variety of shops. Great little garden centre is Roberts' if you want well priced pots and plants. Nearby is Cae Hir gardens and a short drive away is Aberaeron, a charming harbour town - you must try the ice cream flavours there (honey, for example). Spending time at the university, particularly enjoyed time...
Spending time at the university, particularly enjoyed time in the university library. The Quilt museum was excellent and was one example of Welsh heritage. Visited Cae Hir garden, well worth the visit.
