This was my first time in this area, I stayed in a rural environment and the views were amazing. I got lucky with sunny days and traveling around the area, the rolling hills were very eyecatching. Lovely views from the hill tops, there are lots of hills, not so good if you have trouble getting about, however driving around and taking in the views in the quiet country lanes was a big highlight for me. Lanchester was a lovely location with easy access to Durham. There were a variety of restaurants, we chose to eat in Clinton's which was next door to our accommodation, the old post office.
